I’m saying this because I remember the Ubuntu phones that were built very much for it. Got to try one owned by a fellow uni student at the time, wasn’t impressed and neither was the owner.

Fitting this in is unlikely for now.” - this is a crucial feature for me, I aim to use one device only - for almost 5 years I have been using Samsung DeX for work and was hoping can switch to Jolla/SailFishOS, a pure Linux mobile platform that could run KDE on external monitor… Hope you will still make it in J2.

Can’t say for sure, but there probably will be a smaller amount of phones left for sale, when the pre ordered phones are finally delivered.

I’m a little late to the party so apologies if it has been discussed before, but is there any chance predictive text will be available on this device? Certainly not the end of the world, but would be a pretty sweet cherry on top!
Regardless, I am pretty dang excited! I’ve been a Jolla user since the beginning (I would back another tablet effort @Jolla ) and aside from a short stint with a crappy Pixel phone, SFOS has been my daily driver for quite a while now. I didn’t think it could get much better than Sailfish X, but this takes the cake!

I’ll send you the installable RPM file for the (old) predictive text if you want. It all still works even if you can’t install it through official means anymore. That being said, I did read that Jolla is, understandably, looking into a new predictive text system, but I’m not sure if it’ll be available on launch day.

While i do think convergence is a fool’s errand - here is another voice for “please try to make it”. More options and capabilities are always good. As far as i understand this doesn’t really drive BOM cost.

Same here for usb-c video out support.
While I have not used it, I would have had a need for it just recently when (android) phone screen broke totally. It would have helped a lot when switching to new phone

In Jolla’s app store there is now an app for predictive text. This will be to your liking. Anyone can choose if they want it or not.

Will see how well NexPhone performs, as it’s “triple boot” phone, Android+Linux (Lindroid) and Windows 11 with Phone-like UI.
I also happen to have Furilabs FLX1s, but for it, it lacks direct displayport video out thus need special displaylink adapter, so ehh theres still ways around the lack of proper type-c video output.

@kulta fyi: there is an app called ‘scrcpy’ which mirrors the phone’s screen on your desktop via adb. In your case that might have solved your problem. There is a version for Linux and Windows as well.
You can fully control your mobile phone by mouse and keyboard.
