Ah yes, I know. Isn’t GrapheneOS that absurd piece of software pushed onto your phone under the whole “Google, but I offer privacy” narrative? That side of things has always seemed ridiculous to me, because when it comes to privacy, I look at whether a company is actually solid or whether it eventually ends up crawling under Google. Up to now, a lot of companies have drifted toward Google, but Jolla has never really been like that. I’d already looked into all of this before anyway ![]()
Wow, my friend, you’re right. I was browsing social media the other day and kept seeing comments like this under the device: “Isn’t Android already a Linux?” I guess that’s basically the problem you’re talking about, and you’re right. We really need to explain Sailfish OS to people.
IIUC this picture correctly the SFOS is scary for beginers😂.
OTOH my experience was defintely not at that level of scary as of the baby. My learning curve was actualy not steep at all.
Adding Andy apps I was uneasy but not because of SFOS
.
You can check the band frequencies for the phone, but to my understanding it is still a phone that will work world-wide. Only Jolla is not shipping it to this side of the pond.
Thanks for the clarification, I am from batch #2 and didn’t receive any email (I emailed as advised above). I checked that the payment was made to Jolla shopify account. When i log into official Jolla shop there is no purchase history for me.
Jolla Shop or commerce.jolla.com? The new stuff seem to be sold in a different store than the ones bought back in the day (SFOS for Xperia etc.).
There’s two separate “shops” with separate purchase histories, one at shop.jolla.com (the old one where you buy Sailfish X licences for Sony devices) and the other at commerce.jolla.com (where you buy the Jolla Phone 2026, a shopify ecommerce). My purchase history shows there both for the preorder and the final order (which I completed earlier today).
Don’t you think it’s up to you, to keep track on your email addresses?
Oh, absolutely. I’m not trying to assign the blame on that on anyone else. My main purpose was to inform the fellow non-recipients on what sort of specific-to-me individual circumstances had led to me failing to receive the email. The good people at Jolla btw sorted it out in less than an hour after I sent an email. ![]()
Though, I don’t think it’s a bad idea to try and recognize what kind of factors led to these malfunctions in the shopping procedure for the future’s benefit and if there’s something that Jolla can do easy-ish in their end to make people giving money to them easier in the future. In my case it was the combo of pre-existing Jolla account with wrong email address through my own negligence and that said email address being mission critical for the proceedings. Combined with my temporary but crucial lack of diligence caused by the unexpected speed at which the limited edition product was fast selling out. And my red-hot hatred towards Shop by Shopify.
It was a semi-troll to say that if people didn’t understand the content of the Batch #2 email, it’s likely because they didn’t read it carefully, so if they read about SailfishOS the same way, they might not have understood what it really is and might think it’s yet another de-Googled Android flavor, as others pointed out (And after those additional comments now I’m really worried that it might actually be true
)
You are proving you are not in the VAT ID group. If you were there would be no VAT included. If you didn’t add your VAT ID when paying the final price, you didn’t pay with your company ID. Meanwhile, those of us who used our VAT ID are still waiting for our payment link. I am sort of regretting I did now since I’m still waiting. Anyways, I am told to be patient, so I will.
All the best to you!
