I donāt have enough money right now. are there any downsides when placing the order on the last days of April?
Also what are the downsides of deferring? (is that still possible?)
Deferring is currently only for the three āpre-orderā batches, ie if you placed the order before the end of February. If you defer what you only have to pay by end of August. The downside is that the memory configuration will change to 8 GB/128GB with upgrade option. If you ordered before end of February, and pay now, you still get the better 12GB/256GB included without paying for any upgrade.
If you havenāt ordered yet, this does not really apply to you. We havenāt had any information when the remaning payment will be collected for āSeptemberā orders. My own two cents: As long as the 2000 batch currently on offer is not heading towards the end, there should be little risk with simply ordering later. At the current rate of sales, end of April should be still in time for that.

Only downside is that probably the 500 tickets to the Day 1 event has been reserved by then, but if you didnāt plan participating in that anyway, there are no downsides paying closer to the end of the time window.
The memory downgrade was already pointed out by @thejiral, but he forgot to mention that you get 30% discount on the memory upgrade option (you only pay 70ā¬ instead of 100ā¬), if you want to bump the memory back up to 12/256.
You also lose your position in the delivery queue as the deferred devices will be delivered after those who paid in advance.
Also note there are only 1000 slots for deferring out of 10000 orders in pre-order groups 1-3.

nice thanks. I didnāt even know about end of february. I received the mail with the voucher code on March 27th
My understanding is that by referring to āby the end of February,ā @thejiral was referring to the original pre-order groups (first 10000 with 12GB/256GB) being filled at that time. Any purchases made after that are for the ādelivery in September and laterā-batches (8GB/256GB or 8GB/128GB with paid updgrade option), and they are not included in this discussion, not at least at this point. If you have received an email to finalize your purchase, then you are in one of the pre-order groups.

2nd batch here, pre-ordered in December, still no final payment email, are emails still coming in?

Yes, they are still coming in. They started e-mailing 2nd batch orders only shortly before the weekend. Donāt expect anything happening during holidays.

Im waiting to receive the mail to finalize the purchase. Im in a real hurricane !!
Iām still waiting for the letter, I hope to receive a payment link by the end of the month. The situation is a little annoying when there is no information or it is distorted, they wrote that they sent it, everyone looks and there is nothing. Waitingā¦

no they didnāt. they wrote they started sending the first ones, and they would send the rest soon. it has been a little longer than they estimated (11 days is more than āa ~weekā), but that always happens with any project involving humans.
weāre all eager, but give them a little space to sort out the logistics. theyāre a fairly small company doing something that obviously turned out much bigger than they initially anticipated.
the ādeferā option still has me a bit worried a bit about the ram availability, but theyāve been being transparent about that so far.

Check the status Jolla Phone update - final payments status Batch 1, 2 and 3 - #26 by Jere675
They said the batch #1 and #2 emails were all sent, unless you used VAT id. If you didnāt get an email you need to email them with, email, order id and proof of payment.
I never received an email either, Batch #2 here

Maybe be in the spam folder? My confirmation mail was there.
Iām daily driving my 10 II in anticipation of the Jolla 2 to make sure that everything works. It does work, but that old hardware makes everything go really, really slow.
At dinner last night my wife remarked that I never looked anything up for her anymore, because my phone is too slow. She said she canāt wait for my new phone to come.
Please send my email ASAP. For a limited time I think I can pay for it out of the joint account.
