Last Saturday I asked in this topic (now deleted) about the complete lack of communication towards paying customers: https://forum.sailfishos.org/t/jolla-phone-community-shipping-tracker/30590/14
I ordered April 4th and have (still, to date!) received zero emails – no confirmation, no tracking, no “your batch is X”, nothing. Just the Shopify “preparing” text frozen for three months.
I got a bunch of replies from people defending Jolla:
“The shipping of the phone didn’t start yet and there will be email as expected, like every other step. Are you talking about something else maybe?” – @Kanthal
“So… you did not read what it was that you ordered? Somehow you managed to miss that the delivery for the first units (not you, since you ordered in April) would be in July and now you complain?” – @makrolon
Not exactly the friendliest response to someone wondering about the lack of communication regarding an expensive purchase.
Then there was @rgp:
"Latest update here:
Sailfish Community News, July 10, 2026 - Jolla Phone Day1
Edit: first Batch #1 shipments starts to go out next week."
@rgp suggested I simply “did not read” the announcement. But here’s the thing – that post was edited on July 11th at around 16:14 to add that note. The original post was made the day prior, on July 10th at 16:00. So when I first read it, that information wasn’t there.
Even if it had been there, it’s way too easy to miss. This is a huge post primarily about the Day 1 event, with lots of sections. The “first Batch #1 shipments” note was tacked onto the end of the section about “The Jolla Ensemble band”, just before “Energy from the Community”. No formatting, no bold text, no indication this was important. It just looks like part of the band section. For someone who couldn’t care less about “The Jolla Ensemble band”, it’s something you quickly scroll past. Sorry for not reading a wall of text that the forum itself estimates as taking >11 minutes to read twice – that’s on me, I suppose?
Now today I find out that that topic was unceremoniously deleted. No explanation, no moderator note, just gone.
And now we have this “announcement” thread, which still dodges the question of when shipping will actually start. To add insult to injury, we find out that serious issues will be left unresolved on delivery – including a hardware defect that will only be fixed in “later batches”, with no offer to replace or fix the devices of their actual Day 1 supporters.
Honestly, this is amateur hour. Jolla is shipping known hardware defects, no charger, zero proactive communication, and deleting threads from customers who ask legitimate questions. If I’d known this is how they operate, I’d have thought twice before ordering.
