Hehe, that’s me. The Red Hand.
I like that very much. ![]()
Haha very nice. You triggered a lot of positive comments for Sailfish and Jolla, I was pleasantly surprised to see this in a mainstream business newspaper
. It didn’t lead to thousands of new J2 orders yet but good to start spreading the word ….
Question:
How do I know in which batch is my order ?
I am pretty sure that I preordered on the beginning of campaign, when Batch #1 was still half-filled. Now, I see that my order number is 4636, December 5th.
The order numbers didn’t start from 1, so don’t worry about that. You know your batch from the price you were promised at the time of your purchase. Batch #1 was 499€, batch #2 was 549€ and batch #3 is 579€. Also Jolla changed to batch #2 after the weekend at the December 8th if I recall correctly.
I have the same question. I don’t know if I am batch1 or 2. I don’t find the batch nber or final price on the order confirmation, just the value of the pre-order voucher…
True, there is no indication in the billing.
I ordered after 2000, but not sure if it was before 2700. When I ordered I did not care, because initially batch #1 ended with 2000 and was later increased to 2700.
I used the way back machine to estimate my ordering number (in regards oft the batch)… but I am not sure…
I will see, I guess.
Cheers
Batch 1 (2700 units) reached full capacity between these two messages:
Which were sent on Dec. 8 9:54 and 14:01 UTC, respectively. Assuming the purchases came equally spaced in time, linear interpolation gives that #2700 was reached around Dec. 8, 11:48 UTC.
The pre-reserve number has started to reduce today. We have lost around 40 reserves from tonight.
Do you know the reason?
Some changed their mind and Jolla processed that on the first working day after NY holidays?
Nothing unusual, they’ve just processed some refunds. There are still more pre-orders, than on the 1.1.2026
Maybe the loss is superficial. I had the impression some people just corrected a wrong choice for us all. ![]()
I will definitely place my order on 10 January. I have been looking for a phone like this for a long time, so I am glad I came across the advertisement on Facebook offering pre-orders.
Hi @Jolla, could you clarify if your smartphone is manufactured in the EU, or is it designed in Europe and made in China?
I really want to support European manufacturers and would love to know more.
Jolla Phone is planned to be assembled in Finland.
According to the press release (https://jolla.com/content/uploads/2025/12/Jolla_Phone_Press_Release_8-12-2025_FINAL_EN.pdf) – final assembly, flashing and QA are performed in Salo, Finland
However, hardware is still produced in China
Thanks @yusssufff and @Ponipoika for the reply and the link to the press release.
It is encouraging to see European companies embracing the opportunity to challenge the current status quo of outsourcing all manufacturing to China, India, etc.
Although final assembly and QA will take place in Finland, the boards are still being produced in China. I hope to see the entire manufacturing pipeline moved within the EU in the near future.
You can also by a C2 (Jolla C2 - True Linux smartphone – Jolla Shop), already available and made in Europe (Türkiye) at the Samsun factory by the Black Sea.
Unfortunately, pricing would be too high in this case
For example Liberty Phone, manufactured in the US with some imported components (including Chinese ones) costs $2000, while hardware is not so good
I hope EU leaders embrace a new vision for the future and help companies fully reindustrialize at all levels, particularly in technology.
The COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent shortages served as a wake-up call regarding our extreme dependency.
We are now facing a second phase of threats, and as the saying goes: “We need it for security reasons”
And we, as consumers, should support it, even if it costs more.
