Let’s just hope now that we will get a great SOC that won’t ruin the whole phone ( please :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: )

the page just isn’t clear at the moment. It is said that “Reserve Your Spot in Batch #2 2000 units limited run · Will close when capacity is reached” and then there is the counter which shows 3000+. Currently for the new visitors it is not clear that the 3000+ in the counter includes also the 2000 orders of the batch#1.

I think batch number 1 is the first 2000 units and batch two is then logically from 2000 to 4000. So not confusing at all.

Jolla has already confirmed that orders above 2000 commited in the weekend, before they modified the page for batch #2, are part of batch #1 (Jolla Phone Pre-order campaign has started - #372 by rainemak). So at this moment only Jolla knows at what number batch #1 ended.

Ues, we all know it. But new visitors who today enter first time the page only see that the batch #2 is 2000 units and the counter shows +3000. These amounts are the only ones what they get out from the text of the page.

I agree, Jolla should clarify this in the web page.

I agree. This is very confusing and should be fixed ASAP. Sorry to be bringing this up multiple times but I bet there is going to be a lot of lost sales if this is not made a lot clearer. @Jolla

Regardless over 3000 pre-orders is awesome in three days! Congratulations sailors!

Yep, just update the page to say something like “All pre-orders after THIS DAY at THIS TIME (TIMEZONE) are part of Batch #2.”

Easy to know “oh okay, I ordered a few hours before then, I’m in batch 1 no sweat”

There’s a neat app on OpenRepos that displays the current pre-order counter:

It states that when max capacity is reached the sale will close. That should be clear enough by itself.

Too bad there’s no mention about the first batch being included indeed. There’s also no mention about the amount for the first batch which wasn’t 2000 but quite a bit more.

Are you sure? Didn’t get one at the time (got the z10  oops) but am pretty sure that the reason there is x86 laptop support and pinephone support is because J1 was a hybris-free device. Or was it not?

Didn’t prevent high profile Graphene OS from going with Pixels…

But regarding Sony: I think there is more than just bootloader unlocking (which is not a strong point of Sonys, as it is tethered). There’s actually the fact that you can distribute their OSS drivers (in contrast to the proprietary drivers they ship in their stock firmware)

One major point of SFOS is the ability to cut ties with Big Tech in particular Google. Donating them several hundred euros to get a phone from them wouldn’t make sense to me.

given that the whole complaint about android is that they subsidize the hardware because they intend to sell your data, who cares if you buy a google handset to install software?

I don’t like them I don’t want to part of their story. Similar debate occurs with the Chinese government subsidising their solar or vehicle industry. Some people don’t care and enjoy the discount, others care. I care not giving real euros to Google.

would x86 support have been there due to the sdk? Anyway, if the support wasn’t there already, the first official x86 device was the tablet. i do remember there being a very similar android device out there at the time of the J1.

Batch 3 on Wednesday? xD

Yes, i’m sure. J1 uses libhybris. The tablet is x86.
The J1 was going to be on another platform originally.

I successfully hinted a German tech blog to the campaign…
