Also, no 5G with Telekom Germany. It works on my Pixel 9 but not with the JP26.
On Mastodon, I saw a post from someone saying they got G5 with Vodafone Germany, but that’s it.
5G Vodafone Germany works.
5G is working for me on the Telekom network.
What do you see under “Select network automatically” in the cell settings?
I see Telekom.de (Telekom.de) (4G)
I tried manually selecting the network, but I didn’t see any other options.

I also only see the 4G option, even though I have “prefer 5G” selected.
The fact that some people in the same region with the same provider and the same Jolla 2026 phone and the same Sailfish OS version see 5G and others don’t, suggests to me that some phones have shipped with faulty connectivity hardware.

I experienced 5G as rather fragile even in urban environments with other devices. A wall more or less can make a huge difference. As providers are increasingly whitelisting devices I suspect a provider issue. Your conclusion though is as speculative as mine.
I couldn’t check this at the moment i am inside and have no 5G. I just tested this this morning and it switched to 5G. I manually set it back to 4G. I think it is the same as with Xperia10iii, which only switched to 5G in well covered areas. I never investigated this, since i don’t have any benefits in using 5G.
To repeat: I do not ever get 5G, anywhere, ever, on any major Dutch provider (Vodafone, Odido). When I put the exact same SIM cards in other 5G-able phones in the same areas, I get 5G just fine. It’s not an area problem. It’s not a walls problem. It’s not an urban environment problem. It’s not a will-only-switch-to-5G-if-you-download-a-lot problem. It is a Jolla 2026-specific problem. Perhaps there are other Jolla 2026 devices that fare better, but not the one I received; it even struggles with 4G and WiFi.

I’m not sure if this even related - I rarely got 5G on Dutch Simyo/KPN - but now I can’t get mobile data at all. 2G, 4G, 5G (if connected) show up, but since today I just get zilch data connection. Even power cycle doesn’t help. I’m on WLAN only now

But, even before, I couldn’t connect to my VPN at home. I use OpenVPN, which works great on my XA2, but on JP2601 I got “Destination network unreachable” when pinging my (IPv4) home address, and indeed VPN doesn’t connect.
No 5G with KPN NL, tried it while standing underneath a cell tower but no luck. This afternoon I went to germany and didn’t have any cell reception at all. I do have roaming on and it didn’t work.
I had a similar issue earlier this year. In my case I had airplane mode enabled when crossing the border, and didn’t get any reception after disabling it, but I managed to fix it by rebooting.
Update: installed 5.2.0.17. No change; the only connection the Jolla2026 gets is poor 4G. Other phones with the same SIM at the same location do get 5G, but even get 3x the speed over 4G.
I just did the test with 5.2.0.17, Croatia Hrvatski Telekom provider. My old Xperia 10 IV, on stock android, that phone itself has pretty shitty reception, but it connects to 5G and I get 130/54 Mb speeds. At exactly the same location with same sim card, Jolla connects to 4G and get 49/36 Mb speed - so something is not right obviously….

With the Jolla 2026 (5.2.0.17), I don’t have 5G with KPN either, just 4G.
(Sometimes, after a reboot, I get 5G for a brief moment, then it goes back to 4G)
The same applies to the 10III (5.1.0.11).
I remember that I used to have 5G with this one, but now it’s the same as with the Jolla 2026.
With the Fairphone 5 / Eos, I do have 5G.

Went to Germany again this week, it did work when I was in a village but no 5G. Went to a bigger city in the Netherlands and got 5G for the first time. But on other android phones I had (Sony Xperia 10 V, Dumber Mini) there was 5G everywhere. On my Jolla Phone 2026 it only connects to 4G most of the time.
My jolla is mostly in 4g but it gets to 5g as soon as i connect to the internet, are you sure it’s not the same thing?
Confirm: on vodafone.cz 5G does not work with JP2026
same sim card, same location in Xperia 10V SF5.1 works fine on 5G
btw o2.cz has no problem with JP2026, 5G and speedtest about 300-500Mb/s
i think we can adjust title - not just for one coutry/provider

I do often get a solid 5G connection in the Netherlands on Simyo/kpn network, at least in the northeast of the country.
