To make the most out of it, I’d like to know a bit more what to expect. Do people bring laptops? I’d like for a chance to get some pointers on app development, but I do not like to be the only person with a laptop at a party if we just talk and share a beer.

Barring official news, extrapolating from years of FOSDEM: I expect lots of Thinkpad X series to be present, and people with literal bags of phones. I imagine the kind of party where you’re sharing a beer, and then randomly go like “oh that’s easy, here, let me quickly show you” and open a laptop, and connect a phone via USB.

If someone organises a hackathon before, I’d be happy to join.

That would be amazing. I am hesitant to ask you to do a second tour, but if you are, we will certainly join. We are with 2.

You can create a user name in Signal so that way you don’t need to share phone number with anybody. My user name is “Lumihauki.05”.

Registration is phone number based, but contacting people is not; you can optionally, disabled by default, share your phone number with contacts, and optionally, enabled by default, discover people and be discovered by people via your phone number.

In this case: the default will be that you can join the group via @lumen’s group link and nobody learns your phone number
