Jolla Phone Community Shipping Tracker

Also just got my shipping notification! 52** (I think)

Well don’t know, if that is any worse than the cases (yes this has happened more than once) from Posti where the mailman have thrown the mail to trash, because they CBA to either sort or deliver them. Or the cases (again, happened at least twice) where the mailman has stolen random mail slowly over the years and hoarded thousands of them it at their home or in their locker at work.

Inari Blue is the new black…

Bump (is bumping still a thing?) and behind the scenes update:

I noticed that my duplicate entry checker was no longer working. No idea why, as it managed to filter out a few duplicates a few weeks ago… Anyway, after some tinkering it should filter out duplicate responses properly again.

I’ve been considering the formatting of the sheet for a few days. As more phones are delivered more patches of green start showing up and it might make legibility harder. Any opinions?

I tried cryptpad yesterday with my XA2 5.1.0.11.
It didn’t work.
Then, I realized it might only be accessible from the J2 (or PC or other >114 browser phones).
But when you have the J2 to read the tracker, you (normally) don’t need to check where the phone is
Then, I wondered what is the sense of a ‘crypt’ thing, if anyone can access and read it (me simple mind).
TL;DR: I love phunking text files

Make a counter at the top of the form counting delivered devices / total entries (percentage%) from the table data. You can even add additional counters for different batches if you feel like it.

This way lazy people doesn’t need to scroll the table for the information they need. Maybe add like rough approximation of the pre-order number where the deliveries are.

Will look into this.

Yeah, it’s not great for readability. Maybe having the green status color as background only in for example column B (the batch number) instead of the whole row would be easier on the eyes?

If you go with this route, why column B? Wouldn’t column G (delivery date) make more sense?

My thinking was that column B provides very little information on a row-to-row basis and reduced contrast there would not bother very much as with the default sorting the only really interesting lines in B are those where the batch number changes. But you are of course right that col G is what determines using the green status in the first place and thus is a very logical choice.

Maybe add a couple more columns with the info we now know about how the phones are built (ie in runs based on OH colour), and the different email issue requiring manual handlingin runs based on OH colour

I’m not opposed to changing it to a single cell/column. But @avhakola is right that column G might make more sense.

For now I’ve added lines below the coloured rows so it’s easier to keep your eyes on a row you want to read.

I’m also wondering if the colouring of entire rows is a problem by itself or whether the (rather harsh) colour I’ve picked is the issue. Would a more gentle (maybe pastel?) shade of green be less of an issue? Just thinking out loud here.

It’s possible. I just wonder how many people will go back to amend their data to include that info and how many new people would be willing to put up with even more (potentially optional) questions. As I’ve mentioned before, I’ve already gotten feedback to the extend of: there’s too many questions.

Yeah, I think a lighter shade of green would probably improve legibility too.

I’ve changed the row colour to a lighter shade of green. I think legibility has much improved. I’ll have a look later today at potentially adding counters above the header for % of phones shipped/received.

I’m also considering potentially adding order numbers to the public sheet. It might help Jolla with pairing orders. But then again it would only help for the orders on the community shipping tracker and it would still require Jolla to do some manual searching in their own systems as the community shipping tracker does not provide the full information - I have to wonder whether that is helpful at all.

Mine just got scanned at Lithuania.
Some history (for those who are too eager to get their delivery)
30-07 : Tracking number received
04-08 : Item registered
05-08 : Item in sorting (Tampere)
05-08 : Item in transport (Tampere)
06-08 : Item in sorting (Vantaa)
06-08 : Item is on its way to the destination country (Vantaa)
07-08 : Item in transport (LT SmartPosti Lithuania)

I was afraid already they will deliver the package tomorrow because I am not able to pick it up… But I guess it won’t arrive until somwhere second half of next week.

I’ve changed a few more things on the Community Shipping Tracker sheet:

  • Added shipped and delivered counters (absolute numbers and percentages) above the header. Note: obviously this only counts the data in the tracker itself.

  • As a consequence of the above I’ve had to fiddle with column lengths (and descriptions) slightly to keep it looking somewhat neat. ̶B̶e̶c̶a̶u̶s̶e̶ ̶o̶f̶ ̶t̶h̶i̶s̶ ̶C̶2̶ ̶(̶P̶r̶e̶v̶i̶o̶u̶s̶l̶y̶:̶ ̶P̶r̶e̶-̶o̶r̶d̶e̶r̶ ̶c̶o̶m̶p̶l̶e̶t̶i̶o̶n̶ ̶d̶a̶t̶e̶)̶ ̶a̶n̶d̶ ̶F̶2̶ ̶(̶P̶r̶e̶v̶i̶o̶u̶s̶l̶y̶:̶ ̶J̶o̶l̶l̶a̶ ̶s̶h̶i̶p̶p̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶n̶o̶t̶i̶c̶e̶ ̶d̶a̶t̶e̶)̶ ̶h̶a̶v̶e̶ ̶b̶e̶e̶n̶ ̶r̶e̶n̶a̶m̶e̶d̶ ̶s̶l̶i̶g̶h̶t̶l̶y̶ ̶s̶o̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶y̶’̶r̶e̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶s̶a̶m̶e̶ ̶s̶i̶z̶e̶ ̶a̶s̶ ̶G̶2̶.̶ ̶I̶f̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶s̶h̶o̶r̶t̶e̶r̶ ̶d̶e̶s̶c̶r̶i̶p̶t̶i̶o̶n̶s̶ ̶a̶r̶e̶ ̶a̶ ̶d̶o̶w̶n̶g̶r̶a̶d̶e̶ ̶c̶o̶m̶p̶a̶r̶e̶d̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶o̶r̶i̶g̶i̶n̶a̶l̶ ̶d̶e̶s̶c̶r̶i̶p̶t̶i̶o̶n̶s̶,̶ ̶l̶e̶t̶ ̶m̶e̶ ̶k̶n̶o̶w̶.̶ ̶I̶’̶m̶ ̶m̶o̶s̶t̶l̶y̶ ̶u̶n̶s̶u̶r̶e̶ ̶a̶b̶o̶u̶t̶ ̶F̶2̶ ̶s̶i̶n̶c̶e̶ ̶p̶e̶o̶p̶l̶e̶ ̶m̶a̶y̶ ̶n̶o̶w̶ ̶t̶h̶i̶n̶k̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶y̶ ̶n̶e̶e̶d̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶w̶a̶i̶t̶ ̶w̶i̶t̶h̶ ̶u̶p̶d̶a̶t̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶i̶r̶ ̶d̶a̶t̶a̶ ̶u̶n̶t̶i̶l̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶y̶ ̶s̶e̶e̶ ̶m̶o̶v̶e̶m̶e̶n̶t̶ ̶i̶n̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶t̶r̶a̶c̶k̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶l̶i̶n̶k̶ ̶a̶s̶ ̶o̶p̶p̶o̶s̶e̶d̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶w̶h̶e̶n̶e̶v̶e̶r̶ ̶J̶o̶l̶l̶a̶ ̶f̶i̶r̶s̶t̶ ̶s̶e̶n̶d̶s̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶t̶r̶a̶c̶k̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶l̶i̶n̶k̶.̶

  • Added a cell that reflects when I last updated the sheet. Some days I may have less time to update the sheet than others, this will allow people to instantly see whether the sheet has been updated recently.

5 days between tracking number received and item registered?
That is something inherently wrong. I would expect 5-6 days between tracking number received and delivered.
1 day between tracking number received and registered
3 days transport across Europe
and 1 or 2 days the last leg to delivered.
Especially, taking into account how much they charge for delivery.

Around 17 euros for Intra-EU shipping? It’s actually cheap.

I do not think so. 15 Euro is the standard plan. In this case I suppose there’s a big discount.
