Jolla Mind2 progress

Does anybody know anything about the Venho company?

Techcrunch, in their review of the Mind2 (Jolla founders take the wraps off an AI assistant to power up their push for privacy-friendly GenAI | TechCrunch), write that it is a ‘sister’ company of Jolla and imply that it is a new business entity spun out of Jolla to develop the Mind2 AI.

The limited company due diligence info available online (https://tracxn.com/d/companies/venho/__lUk8aVeJEes1Kivll3jxFB9iT6cv87aUElgNdfEfQes) says that Venho has just one employee as of May 2026 and has yet to receive any funding from outside sources.

Now, obviously I can’t vouch for the accuracy of the above info (its not as if the due dilligence info comes from something like Companies House here in the UK - a part of the UK Government receiving company statutory returns, so you know that the info it provides is accurate), but it would be interesting to know more.

I am wondering whether Venho is actually a subsidiary of Jolla in the same way that Seafarix is for the automotive side of Jolla’s business.

So in other words when people here say that the delays affecting the Mind2 are down to Venho, not Jolla … Well, you get the drift.

As I understood, they said at the J2-Launch-Party, they redesigned the whole Mind2 and there will be news in the nearer time.

Oh wow… So what happens to those people who’ve bought and received the ‘old’ product hand have, as I understand it, only pre-release alpha software on it?

What I understood from the presentation, is that they are redesigning the software side. So should be able to update current Mind2.

No idea, and Jolla haven’t exactly made the orgchart available. Maybe there are Finnish sources/registers with more information?

Re: Mind 2 progress, there was some mention of the reason releases have been stalled (re-architected software) during the Phone Day1 event yesterday. ~2:47:00 into the recorded stream on Peertube.

Slides mentioned Mind2 already shipping, which seems exaggerated, and Antti said that “very soon you will get to use this [re-architected solution] … in a few months” (2:47:47). What this means in calendar time remains to be seen, but at least Antti seems to be on the job.

(And I appreciate the goal and direction they communicate!)

The major discomfort I have with the mind2 issue is the lack of communication/silence by Jolla. As I already wrote I ordered and paid a unit in May 2025. In summer 2025 I got a mail upon request where I was told to have a little more patience as they were awaiting a new software version soon. Since then only silence, I opened a ticket, no reply…

What I really don’t get is why there is no information for existing customers. I don’t ask for personal 1:1 conversation, but a bulk and honest information (good old email newsletter for example once a month or once all two months). To keep customers informed.

Because with all sympathy and respect to Jolla so far the customer experience is on par with that one would expect from some random North Korean love scammers: money taken and left in silence.

I am quite satisfied with SailfishOS on my Sony Xperia though and Jolla has delivered already, hence I am still somewhat positive. But AFAIK there were issues with orders and delivery a good decade ago with the tablet story or so (dunno the details, wasn’t engaged back then), but IMHO once you had that kind of trouble already you should handle situations when it comes to delays/goal shifts/product changed with very very special care. Reputation is easy to lose and hard to earn!

Well, I am going back to waiting mode, summer vaccation is soon to start. Waiting for news after the summer. Somehow I am confident (but so is the average love scammer victim, too).

I have my mind 2, I was also in the pre Order Queue. The only thing we also know is that they are redesigning the Software. Not much more than that. The Venho website promises a September release, for early access. https://www.venho.ai

Until then my Mind 2 is going to be a paper weight, although you could just run containers on it for maybe Nextcloud or so.

We have several mind2 units and they have been in use from the start. Not the fastest, but it’s fully airgapped and does document processing well. Hopefully they get the new venho.ai out as soon as possible.
