Jolla C2 first time use instructions

Is it perhaps something about the language support?

Quite interestingly FI can work. Not a surprise since it’s a Finnish product. I may install in Finnish since I’m 50% Finnish and I can speak a little.

Which language did you use?

I used German as the language.

Received my C2 today.

It was switched off and charged at 48%

Charged up to 80% before switching on

At the first start-up, I dared to choose the language (German), thereafter entered and confirmed a 6 digit security code (that replaces the default security code), did not skip connection to local Wi-Fi but instead connected to Wi-Fi, signed up to my Jolla account, installed all suggested apps and waited until the set-up wizard finished and the tutorial appeared. I skipped (closed) the tutorial and updated to 5.0.0.21 via settings menu.

The automatic reboot during installation of 5.0.0.21 was the first reboot.

Everything went fine and as expected

The hardware looks and feels better than expected (my expectations were low, admittedly)

The device feels slower the Xperia 10iii

Update 2: besides an extremely poor and unstable WiFi connection, everything else seems fine, I think I’ll swap and use as daily driver in a couple of updates once the VOLTE is sorted. But it’s got massive potential, I’ve never used SailfishOS before but I’m really impressed with the interface and general feeling of it. Looking forward to using it more often.

Update: restarted the phone, no issues, however for some weird reason the only WiFi network it wamt to join is my Android’s Phone hotspot… update is downloading that way, so far seems fine.

Very uneventful set up process, everything seemed fine.

WiFi signal is super weak, even standing right next to my router it barely shows one bar.

Scary bit: it’s showing there’s an update available, it’s no able to download it and even when it seems to be getting it an error message unable to download shows up… Should I dare restarting? Am I now doomed?

If anyone has seen the same thing, what should I do next?

I’m not taking responsibility but it seems fine.

Hello, no charger included

it’s a shame because I don’t have a usb-c cable and charger.

knowing that there’s no pick to open the sim card slot either; luckily I’ve got sewing needles!

but now all companies dont include charger and cable inside the phone package. do you really have no charger and usb C cable at home?

i have tons of them

They try reduce waste because people usually have chargers of them own.
Did you check package in the black cover I had sim card slot opener.

Really? How have you made it to 2024 without a single usb C cable. I rather have no cable than a cheap block and cable that are worse for your device.

there’s no pick to open the sim card slot

I didn’t find it at first, but there was a SIM tool included. It was on the inside flap of the black cardboard insert in the box.

Is there way to copy everything from old sailfish phone Xperia 10 lll to new C2?

I mean phonecalls sms:s apps. Like in Android world it is quite easy.

What about everything in first step per USB or WLAN from 10 III to computer, and then in second step from computer to C2?

I need little more information. I’m not superuser.

There is in Settings/Connections/USB, where you can choose Charge only, Media transfer (MTP), Developer mode and Always ask.
Select there MTP. Then connect the old phone to a computer and you have accessible the files on the phone like on an USB stick.
Copy pictures etc. to a folder on your computer.
Set the new C2 the same way and connect to computer.
Copy pictures in your folder on computer to the new phone into a folder where wou want to have it.

I asked first to copy everything. I can allready copy pictures. But i like to exact copy from old to new. Like clone old to new.

Including all settings and apps?

Yes and phone calls and sms:s.

There’s a backup option in the Settings that does what you’re looking for.
