(jolla browser) Sites that aren’t working in ESR 91

Hi,
since i do not know how to properly report browser problems, i will it with this thread:

  1. https://www.wiwo.de only shows a blank white page
  2. https://m.bild.de/ does not properly load - progress bar shows that loading is almost finished, after a long time (30 seconds), the page finally shows up.

Number 2 is maybe a feature…it is better to not read Bild fake news

Jolla Browser issue reporting. Try #3
k-ruoka.fi big Finnish grocery store chain web site does not recognise Jolla C2 browser and recommends to upgrade browser to a newest version.

Tested with 5.0.0.29 (Tampella).

https://irma.suunnistusliitto.fi/ states that “I’m sorry, but your browser is not supported”

Fritz!OS 8.00 router operating system complains about unsupported browser.

But it also does that on my uptodate Librewolf desktop browser, and it works just as badly on the phone as it does on desktop.

Hi, here’s a bunch of Public transport trip planners in Europe.

Some sites that use OpenStreetMap seem to have problems.
Text based services like Netherlands railways and Transport For London seem to work fine.

  1. Does not work at all:
  • Switzerland trip planner.
    https://www.sbb.ch
Gives “Application error: a client side exception has occurred”
Tried also “desktop site” on SFOS browser, same result.
  1. Partial results:
  1. Works, for reference, also use OSM:

BR, PF

EDIT: tested on C2 with 5.0.0.43, Gecko version presumably 91.13.1 ESR, as per relnote.

On a similar note, Google Maps is hit and miss. If you navigate to Google Maps first, then enter an address, it works but is slow and difficult. If you search for something in Google, then hit ‘Directions’, you land on a white screen.

Not the end of the world as I have Pure Maps, but Google is more reliable with odd addresses and it’s sometimes nice just to glance at a map while you’re searching so you have a rough idea without having to go to the trouble of finding the place again in Pure Maps.

can someone please test on SFOS5 https://i.imgur.com/zV8sXxG.jpeg
there is page redirect to https://imgur.com/zV8sXxG and then to https://imgur.com/screenshot-20250115-100030-001-zV8sXxG

but on SFOS 4.6.0.15 it stay on https://imgur.com/zV8sXxG and does not display anything only gray page looks like some javascript problem - getting same behavior on desktop with disabled javascript by no-script

It’s working as intended on C2 with 5.0.0.43 OS version.

The site “Aktuelle Nachrichten und Videos auf einen Blick - ZDFheute” can be loaded quickly, but no link is working on jolla C2

The Economist worked just fine before the 5.0 upgrade, now it’s a mess. E.g. The vast and sophisticated global enterprise that is Scam Inc

booli.se
Cannot open the pop-up menus to filter the list of available homes.

Jolla C2, OS version 5.0.0.43 (my phone claims there are no updates).

That’s normal if you’re not in Early access.

Right. Apparently I missed that it was still EA-only, despite following the release thread. I’ve been confused for a while now. Thanks.

Various pages on welt.de cause the browser connection to die.
When you open the pages, they are only partially loaded according to the loading bar (although the screen is still white) and then nothing works anymore.
Closing the tab doesn’t help, nor does closing the entire browser.
Restarting the network connection via the utilities doesn’t help either.
Other programs still have a connection to the internet.
In the end, only a reboot helps to be able to use the browser again.
Or restarting the start screen via the utilities, as I have just found out.
This happens to me on the C2 and an XA2.
Today it was this page, among others:
Horse Powertrain will Werke großer Autokonzerne übernehmen - WELT

It may be a feature to stop working on Axel Springer’s web pages.
Actually I have a block list installed for all addresses of Axel Springer.

Skrill.com (which is a electronic wallet)

Was impossible to log in in old esr and still is in esr91 as the field for input your mail does not type letters (but it type numbers and symbols)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XeRkvVDwKck has no audio with ESR91. Disabling VP9 worked to enable audio for some other YouTube video with similar issues, but not for this one.

Yes, maybe that’s it. Funbird ;-)! But that happens with other sites too, although it’s most noticeable with Welt.
I usually read news via Google News and unfortunately often notice too late that I’ve clicked on such a W site :-(.
But it shouldn’t crash a browser so badly that only a reboot helps. Closing the affected tab or at most the browser should solve the problem. But OK, it’s sailfish.
