HARDWARE: Jolla 2026 phone
UI LANGUAGE: English UK
REGRESSION: No
DESCRIPTION: when I restart the phone, it boots up to the enter security code screen, I type in the code and then it stalls permanently with the blue circle rotating. The only way to fix is to hold down the off switch for long. Then, after a vibration, the phone finally restarts correctly. This happens everytime I try to restart the phone
PRECONDITIONS: Owning a Jolla Phone 2026 and restarting it
STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
Hold off switch until “Switch off” and “Restart” icons appear
Select Restart
EXPECTED RESULT: The phone will restart
ACTUAL RESULT: The phone partially restarts but gets stuck after I enter my correct security code
I have seen this behavior when set up a new phone. It’s happened when no SIM card is inserted. In this case a factory reset will help but only if you insert a SIM card before:
Yes, for the first few days I did not have a SIM inserted while I was setting it up and checking if the phone was viable for me. I have had the SIM inserted since about day 3/4.
Do you think restarting will function correctly after a factory reset?
Do think there is any less time consuming way to fix it such as a command in the terminal?
In some cases a factory reset is described as helpful here in this forum, e.g. here. And I have fixed a friend phone on this way. But of course it no proof it will work with your phone. But your phone is new and so there are not so many data on it. Give the factory reset a try.
I found a solution to my problem. Sharing here in case anyone else has the same problem.
When restarting the phone, don’t do this: Hold down power button + then tap the restart icon at the top right of the screen - This results in, for me, the phone stalling permanently during restart (after entering security code at first screen).
Instead, simply hold down power button, watch the “Goodbye” message but keep holding down power button until you feel the phone vibrate briefly (indicating that it is now restarting). When a restart is done this way, the restart is successful.
