Is microtube broken again? A bug report and status thread!

Okay I have no clue what’s going on since posting this, i tried it now and everything seems to be a-okay without updating anything. Very werid. Maybe youtube temporarily banned me i don’t know

One person mentioned it could be that youtube rolled in new player and rolled it back but we can’t know that now

Have you tried with different virtual locations / VPN if the result is the same?

nah it seems that youtube thought i was botting

Interestingly this video can be played.

I reckon it’s just a coinsidence but another video of the similar content also could be played without error.

yeah microtube should be able to play any video, whats your point?

I mean all other videos I tried ended up with ‘no video formats available’ errors. I wonder what the difference between them is.

did you clean the po token?

Yes I did.

I will try doing one fix so hold tight

I don’t even use yt-dlp so since you have no idea what you’re talking about, please stop talking.

Then explain what you’re pretending to be frantically fixing as from this thread alone it seems microtube has been broken at least half a dozen of times since march (vodman keeps working), and yet:

I’m on it guise!!!

All you do is waiting for upstream to fix your backend? Definitely seems like a poor choice of backend if it doesn’t work most of the time, while vodman just keeps on chugging on
Edit: btw your block function seems to be broken too

Yo I encountered this today too but only on older video. AVC1 formats are available up to 1080p but vp9 only up to 360p

yt-dlp returns same formats

And for enjoyment of trolls, youtube-dl can’t even return formats

That’s weird, 2 month old youtube-dl works perfectly in vodman and lists formats without problems from cli

Please try new update, it might be fixed now

Also some videos in 360p is just something we gotta cope with until i implement new player (and i wish i could delay that as long as possible)

I would like to use this thread to release my anger a bit and yell at jolla for nth time.

So I decided to fix couple annoying bugs that were annoying me before i devote myself to yotti.

Fixed one or two issues, then decided to start fixing the player. On Xiaomi Pad6 the playback speed slider was impossibly small. After debugging for a while it turns out it’s an issue with sailfishos.

Okay then I’ve patched it. Next up, I cannot double tap to seek on pad6. Let’s… let’s check how long is 200ms (current double tap duration)… aaaaaaaaaand it’s an issue with sailfishos.

You see the first one is annoying because its very stupid and simple mistake, but I can workaround it on my side. Now the second issue, I cannot. unless I multiply every timer by two depending on if the device is pad6 or not. But that’s not the annoying part. The annoying part is that Jolla will do JACK SHIT about it until they have a device that has >60Hz display so that they’re literally forced to fix it.

There recently was a thread that cut down animation duration. Guess what, Pad6 has it by default because EVERYTHING IS TWICE AS FAST. And because of that its smoothest and fastest sfos device TO DATE.

So while fixing it they should also add animation speed setting like every other os but again, they’ won’t do that.

I could also avoid spending ton of time implementing the gstreamer player in microtube if only they built qmlglsink but no why would they ever do something to help the developers out?

You cannot seek videos if you’re using h264 because its bug with sfos but why would they bother fixing it?

This has been short display of how it is to develop apps for sfos. It’s jolla sticking middle finger in your face and turning back on you entire time.

BTW Just now, couple hours after my fixes, youtube seemingly broke something again. Every video is DRM protected lol. Works on other clients… tell me if its just me or not
