Installing microG on Sailfish OS

No. Maybe it isn’t a settings issue but a failure to launch Android WebView - I thought I saw a short “Loading Vivaldi” notification when I checked my settings on a Sony.

So all we can do is wait for Jolla boys to come up with something?

No. All we can do is do not install a crap that require the google crap.

Sure, I don`t really need that app. Someone said before that Lidl app is good for testing SFOS itself. So something goes wrong with this app and it would be useful to know what it is.

For the Lidl+ app, an Android browser must be installed and set as the default browser.
If the sailfish browser is set as default, the login will not work. At least that was the case for me.

On my xperia 10 III, after installation of microg 0.3.5, it stoped to work. I tried to come back to 0.3.4 but also it does not work anymore even if check list is ok.

The same issue. Found solution from here. Basically use older versions of Google apps.

edit: microg 0.3.5 works well.

Why are you guys always using unstable developer versions? At least use the F-droid recommended versions (for now… 0.3.3), and you will spare yourself some headaches.

Thanks. Now it is.working.

Since some days in F-droid recommended version is 0.3.6. I updated MicroG Services and MicroG Companion to that version. Now signature spoofing is no longer working.

Same for me - this version and others are not working. I am hasitating to reinstall Android layer just for this…

The same happened to me. Had to uninstall both of the files, reinstall 0.3.4 versions, give almost all permissions again and sign-in again.
Works now.

I found some info on https://github.com/microg/GmsCore/issues/2697:

microG 0.3.6 got updated to check for the signature spoofing to be compatible with the latest version of Play Services. If you’re using an old version of signature spoofing, it will now say that signature spoofing does not work correctly in Self-Check. There is no immediate issue through this: If you have apps that use microG and you don’t update them, they will continue to work. However you should be aware that any updates to apps might cause them to no longer consider microG a valid implementation of Play Services and will show errors and/or ask you to update Play Services.

It looks like we need both updated microg and update in the signature spoofing support in AppSupport.

Indeed It does, but funny thing is that with microG 0.3.3, my few android apps that demands google play service still works with no errors, even fully updated.
My apps are BankID, Swish and PostNord.

Reading here and here, may FakeGApps be a workaround while signature spoofing in AppSupport is not updated?

Is there someone more expereinced with this stuff, that can tell whether it is possible, and how to activate it?

Hi all,

Should the DroidGuard still be used as initial post suggests ?

I cannot find it in MicroG repository and GitHub repo seems to be archived.

This apk mirror suggests that last version was released in 2019.

Another question is related to spoofing signature. I was able to find required option in Android settings: Settings → privacy → permission manager → spoof package signature. However I’m not sure how to configure that exact value e.g. there is option just to enable or disable:

Here you can grant the “Spoof package signature” permission,

FakeStore (make so the empty package seem to contain “com.android.vending” coming from the genuine Google’s Play Store, so that apps checking for that are kept happy)
microG Service Core (make so “com.google.android.gms” seems to be coming from the genuine Google Play Service)
Signature Spoofing Checker (if you installed this option. It makes the checker apps’ screen go green if the spoofing works)

Update: I can see in “Stanley” that apps have correct values but checks aren’t passing as mentioned above :frowning:

Thx.

Can confirm 0.3.5 works on Sony Xperia 10 III and Jolla C2.
0.3.6 works not

Hmm I don’t have this luck.
In my C2 I tried everything possible. All versions and even different versions mixed and finally original google apps… I can not get my banking app to work.

With Google I could start it but accessing the cam crashed the app and afterwards it didn’t start anymore.

Now with MicroG it starts again but complains again about missing GMS.

I have never achieved an official spoofing and I tried many times restarting AAS etc.

I don’t understand how it can work on other C2 devices.

I had a problem with my Portuguese Bank ActivoBank. Than somebody gave me here an advice to install it thru Huawei Store. Apps in Huawei Store do not rely on Google Services entirely. Maybe look there for your bank app?
