Hello Nico, thank you for raising. Indeed, we have your messages and we reply to you as we get there. Please give us a bit of time after MWC and let’s help each other here as well.
Did I say VoLTE for RJio, or… ![]()
Read back forums back in the days and see how many Aquafish users are asking for support for VoLTE…
Aquafish could have been the perfect alternative for smart dumbphones (that RJio developed for itself and sold in many-millions) based on i-cannot-recall-os, later bought by Google. maybe KaiOS?
there are rare moments when even the underdog can play its card right…
That’s relieving to read; I thought it would be too blurry for modern standards
I hope y’all are enjoying yourselves
We did, thanks! It really was a lot of fun
Got it. I actually talked with someone at the Japan Pavilion who is also developing some tools for integrated in-call translation.
Although from what I understand, in this case Nokia is advertising a whole network standard which can integrate these tools at the provider level, or something like that, right?
I assume that this will be pretty attractive for providers, but I’m not sure how much it aligns with Jolla, with some of their biggest selling points being “privacy” and “independence”.
Of course, it’s possible to integrate speech-to-text models and translate stuff on-device (like in Speech Note + Papago, but integrated with calls), but if I understood correctly, Nokia’s technology is designed for it to happen on a server/telephony provider/external hardware controlled by a provider. So I would probably be a bit concerned about how much access the provider gets to the data
not to be easy on privacy but well, your voice goes through the networks right now, right?
I do not want to comment on what Nokia wants or does not want to do here… ![]()
translation was a sample demo service there but in general it was about the technology that enables downloading apps into IMS calls to boost user experience. What Jolla’s role here is to support that technology in Sailfish OS that enables downloading and executing those apps. Whatever apps that relates to the given call context/call participants.
E.g. calling your car insurance company about a car accident and you can fill all the needed forms downloaded into the call with support, uploading photos of the scene, your car and done. Or some p2p game. Or whatever…
