Greetings from MWC Barcelona 26

And what about delivery of the mind2 devices. I am still waiting for my unit that was ordered and paid last spring! Please improve your customer care.

I was hoping for an 8" floppy drive.

A little observation. It says Sailfish OS 5.2 at the J2 spec-sheet. (here: https://forum.sailfishos.org/uploads/db4219/optimized/2X/c/c87ab7ccfb29dc069492dcdbaa534bc32d086529_2_1035x688.jpeg)

Is that the expected version number at the time of shipment or something else?

Probably that. They said 5.1 is a few weeks away so by the time the j2 is released it might be 5.2.

Anyway numbers don’t mean much in general. Even if 5.2 is not on the first batch release it will come later.

My interpretation would also be that the J2 comes with 5.2. (Edited for clarity)

It could even be that 5.2 arrives first for the J2 and a little later for other devices. IIRC that was what happened when the Jolla C2 launched.

You could fit 4 of those in that form factor, two slots on each side. I think the HP quad 8" unit I used ages ago was quite a bit smaller than than the J2Giga.

Fit them with a 5th in RAID controller and institutional market is yours

Thanks to @PublicNico for reporting and pictures !

And the drives even make storage media hot-swappable

I just found this photo:

Thank you!
I allowed myself to add it to the J2 articles, blogs, videos… list.

Discord link from the shop leads to a “strange place”, mail to shop@jolla.com keeps bouncing back. But I just found out about the customer care portal on the jolla site and submitted a request of an status update there.

The thing I really wonder is why does Jolla not use an AI agent to take some customer care for the customers? I mean if I got a status update each 6 weeks or so by some AI that says, “hi there, Mindy here. Sorry for delay, we’ve not forgotten you, thank you for your patience. And look: here’s the latest progess and stuff like that”.

I thought a mind2 would be perfectly able to just do something like that. Doing some standard conversation and keeping things moving. But instead just a blunt cold void is - say - irritating. I am running a small (part time) business myself and I learned something: customer care is, beside a good product, the key for satisfied custumers that spread the word and keep coming back! I want Jolla to succeed, hence I am worried about the current handling. And AI can pretty much help to do that customer care…

Sorry for the delay; here are some more photos

March 4th

This was also a rather busy day:

Some more companies came on the day. Besides, we even had a few groups of locals who became interested and may join the community! :tada:

And more media and interviews

Fun fact: The light at Finland Pavilion was bright enough to charge my solar power bank

At the end of the day, we had a meetup with the community at La Puntual, with great food and drinks, interesting discussions, and a lot of fun

Also, Sami may have managed to win over the (co-)owner and one or two waiters into Sailfish OS

Sorry; I didn’t manage to go myself. Since some sailors checked the forum every now and then, I can only hope they saw your post and went, but no idea if that happened

I also suggested the mind2-mediated auto-reply thing during the meet-up. From their answers, I gather that it may be too risky unless someone’s supervising it, which may or may not end up taking more time than manually replying.
Since some people have already cherry-picked on their statements and publicly accused them of lying in the past, I can understand how they’d be wary of letting an AI talk for them; especially when most models have a tendency to be overly positive. Even if they cover their backs legally with a disclaimer at the end of the email, if someone misunderstands and takes offense, they can create a lot of FUD regardless.
On the other hand, I’ve seen a few people on this forum who seem to dislike AI and everything related to it, so Jolla may also be afraid of being deemed lazy, uncaring, or <insert negative adjective>, if they use it. I assume Mind² buyers would not generally fall into this category, but I’m not sure if it would be easy to only send AI replies to Jolla Shop requests from Mind² customers.

(^ these are just my guesses. Idk if that’s their actual reasoning)

In any case, they also told me that they’re really trying to reply to everything in order and, even though it’s taking time due to the current surge in attention, they’ll get back to everyone eventually, so your request to customer care should get a reply sooner or later. Apparently, some people are also sending them messages every day, which only increases the noise and slows things down further.

I haven’t checked Discord in months, but the Mind2 server was still there last time. I don’t remember where I found the link, though.

I sent them an email ~1 month ago and it worked for me. For next time, if you have an e-mail address with another provider, it may be worth a try

Definitely not! This looks much nicer. I hope y’all are enjoying yourselves.

OK, message taken.

The intention was good because lacking support for VoLTE and VoWiFi for ages killed one of the most promising moment of Sailfish OS before: AquaFish could have been a big hit in India, especially in Reliance Jio network but that was full IMS network with VoLTE.

It would be good not to miss the next potential entry point…

Ah yes vowifi launched in 2020 killed jolla C in india, sure
