I’ve just pushed a build on github of the Deutsche Wetter Dienst, Aka, German Weather Service app. The localization changes I’ve made I’d like verified by a German speaker before I push it to the other channels. @fingus perhaps?
- “Current Conditions” This one slipped the translation, could be “Aktuelle Bedingungen” or “Derzeitige Verhältnisse” or “aktuelle Lage”
- Im Menü “Über”:
- “über den DWD-client” (missing dash)
- “Ein einfacher Konsument der brightsky.dev-Ansicht des Deutschen Wetterdienstes”
- “Icons von Erik Flowers
- “Radar mit freundlicher Genehmigung von rainviewer.com”
- “Quellen: github”
Apart from the translations:
- Adding a new location doesn’t work corectly: You have to add it twice or add another location first bevore it shows up
- Top and bottom pully bars are not visible in horizontal view
I tested on Sailfish OS 4.5.0.19 on F(x)tec Pro1
I understand that you aim in particular at german number formatting. I observe that in the daily view the lower bound for temperatures still has . While the upper bound has ,
Also the uper bound has two digits accuracy while the lower bound has one.
Temperature on cover has two digits (which probably isnt provided by data source)
Further in the overview the term "cirrent conditions " is not translated
The rain view is now blocked by cloudflare which wasn’t the case with the last release, so i can’t say anything here
Thats 32 bit device xa2 ultra on 5.0
edit: I am also not sure if it makes sense to show two digits of rain volume, while the data source apparently only provides one digit
Cannot reproduce. It’s a scrollable list view. Adding and removing resize just fine. Should not be an issue with 4.5, but I’m unsure.
Not sure I understand. The app is Portrait view only. Both top and bottom pulleys work fine …
Sometimes it’s blocked. But 9 times out of 10, not.
Good catch. I’ll see if I can find it again ![]()
Good that you tell me, I tried it again and it actually is quite nice. Also now automatically focused to correct location and not Berlin
Maybe its enough just to round the Temparature-Value to Integer, i just did it on my Smarthome-Display. Differences in 1/2 Degree Celsius are feelable, but i think for the Display it doesn’t matter.
Just made a couple of changes that might work for you. I still need to fix a cover action but the translations and number consistency should be accomplished.

I had tried to reduce the precision (which was set to 2) but for some reason, I still get two digits. I’ve made it consistent, but will fix it in time.
I made my first Pull-Request regarding translation-file.
Nice! Adding locations works now.
However I still bring it to landscape mode, where the pully menus are not visible. Maybe that is a special F(x)tec-thing?
Please don’t bother with that. I just wanted to help with the translations, but I won’t use the app. I always prefer web sites instead of special apps.
Ok, that’s interesting. At some point I’ll get it working on landscape mode. Thanks! @fingus just submitted translations, so that should be up to speed…
A very nice approach!
Just found and installed
So nothing really tested. And not demanding.
Just a few things
-
landscape mode would be a good addition, see screenshots (Aachen displays well, but Abenberg-Wassermungenau misses important info on top)
-
the rain radar did show a strange info at first, but after reading your 9/10 answer tried again and worked (I would not have interpreted the error like that)
-
about the digits, it seems all values have two digits?
-
adding locations works smooth, on removing more than one location (during remorse): only the first is deleted
-
Oh, and this is really a feature request: timer controls for the video
And one question: what is the function “GPS locations - Start" to work like?
I found one more inconsistency in number formatting, sorry to be late.
In the intra-day view, the air pressure for some hours has an additional digit separates with a dot instead of colon (despite having false accuracy here as well)
noted, thanks! I’m working on an update …
Sorry to say it, but with newest version (back to rain viewer) the “locate” button in rain radar stopped working, so it always shows Berlin
GPS / Location services on? It should cache, but may need to be updated once.
I don’t use location mode, because my module is broken. But before it was tied to the location i added to the app as an entry point
Announcing v1.0.2 with a rebuild of the rainviewer page and corrections to the display precision of floats. The rainviewer view is SLOW to load. The ‘+’ button centers the map view to your location. Wait for the ‘Loading’ to turn to a time before you center.
Available at Release v1.0.2 · poetaster/harbour-dwd · GitHub and openrepos … coming to chum and harbour.
Lovely, I confirm it works again, plus nicer buttons and no more meaningless zeros.
Great update, thank you!
