Feedback on Xperia 10 V

The phone is getting better after several (normal!) shutdowns -+ startups. Also took away unnecessary app (Patch manager from Chum). Otherwise, no wonder due to not working connections.

File manager shows a lot free memory.

Today I had a freeze with 5a blobs. Screen black and touch non resoonding and phone got really hot.
But in the end it is a non tested blob running with an OS not tailored towards these blobs, so real life impact probably very limited.
Just report it here for completeness reason and because @direc85 asked yesterday .

i think that we should report as a clear bugs:

  • Missing mobile connection after couple of hours
  • No audio routing to the jack connector
  • Battery consummation (little warm phone even nothing is running and it is locked)

Sure. After SFOS images release.

Update, I’m still on the last release with the recommended Sony download.
WLAN seams to work reliable so far.

I have to reboot a couple of times until is connects to the cell network and complains about a missing SIM even after it asked about the unlock code.

Sometimes Bluetooth looses connection and is only recoverable by reboot AFAIK. This requires me to reboot a lot until cell network and Bluetooth work both.

Any update on when a new build is downloadable for testing?
Any steps I should take to help trouble shoot issues?

Looks that no XMAS for us guys :sob:

I was also hoping for a nice Xmas present and was confident after Raines remark very lately that he hopes to sell some licenses before end of the year.

But hope is fading rapidly after C2 new release announcement so close before Xmas.
From what I understood, Xperia 10 V release was planned to be aligned with C2 Sailfish 5 release and not as a separate release independent from C2.

Would be so cool to have a working V over the holidays

I’m on the 10 IV, but in the same boat as you guys. I was so hoping to be able to take photos at Christmas time!

Unfortunately the C2 seems to have taken all the limelight, for better or worse.

I installed Firefox 91. Thanks to flypig. There were certain sites that were inaccessible with Firefox 78

Firefox on SFOS on Xperia 10 V? Native? I’m surprised. Where?

It’s the sailfish browser. It uses an engine from mozilla

And here you can upgrade it Install

anyway after enabling bluetooth it is fine and phone temp is returning back to normal

  • but also noticed that after disabling of bluetooth it is problem to turn bt back on. mostly enabling wifi (or maybe wait couple of seconds) ‘helps’ somehow to successfully turn bluetooth back on. (on jp-1, xperia 10plus or 10ii it works instantly right after disabling can re-enable…)

  • bluetooth is always disabled after boot (should remember last state…)

  • no audio routing to the jack connector is annoying

  • will be nice to have screen wakeup for covers with magnetic part

  • fingerprint reader would be fine too

  • of course camera and batery status…

no issues with BT speakers and/or headphones - all fine
no issues with mobile data - 4G,5G, VoLTE works even with sms/mms (Vodafone cz - changed to IPv4 only)
no issues with WiFi except Annoying confirmation about which WIFI network to use

For me it saves the state of Bluetooth through reboots. Thanks for the observation. I will leave it enabled from now on

Or so i thought. Now Bluetooth is off after a reboot and i have difficulties turning it back on

Sometimes it fails to load for some reason and then it is “off” after reboot. It is hard to get it working again. Another reboot usually helps

If it loads correctly and if stayed “on” before reboot then after it will be “on” too.

I can confirm this Bluetooth behavior with my 10 V. Better to leave Bluetooth on.
What is your experience with screen brightness?
My 10 V can only be used inside, screen brightness is not sufficient for outdoor use with Sailfish OS. This is in contrast to

  • 10 V screen usable outdoor with Android
  • 10 iii screen usable outdoor with Sailfish and Android
According to specifications, 10 V screen is much brighter than 10 iii. With non Sailfish OS I can confirm this. But with Sailfish 4.6.15 beta even in max brightness settings screen is unusable dim on 10V for outdoir use.
Since my 10 V does not suffer dim screen under Android, I guess my hardware is OK, but Sailfish beta and the non-optimized OS is the reason.
But why then is nobody else reporting this dim screen issue.
    What are your experiences?
Can anyone please test 10 V screen brightness in bright light against 10 iii screen brightness? Or a similar comparison?

The Xperia 10V screen gets more brighter if you turn of auto brightnes and turn the brightnes to max.
(No Comparison)

Interesting, in my device auto or non-auto makes no difference;
unfortunately,
… maybe my device has slightly different hardware??? I am just speculating, but slightly different hardware might also explain why some people experience the audio loss (after GPS) with the 10 iii and others do nor.
Dunno about configuration management in smartphone industry, but I worked in medical device sector many years, in this highly regulated environment, such silently available different hardware modifications within a single product line but not properly specified are NOT possible. So I am skeptical about that, but faulty hardware appears unlikely since an Android everything is fine.
Strange, very strange my 10 V unit.
The reason I choose the X10 V for Sailfish was the bright screen in the specs :frowning:

There are only two variants that I know of. 6GB or 8GB RAM, otherwise the same. I’m not sure about your specific case but as you know different things may affect things that are not obvious right of the way.

This is still deep beta release, some people reported this some said i didn’t affected thier device. I’m sure Jolla knows about it already
