Feedback on Xperia 10 IV

The fast charger has a fixed (USB) cable, it cannot be replaced. I tried two different fast chargers (ASUS, EVE), the result was the same. What parameter did you use for dmesg? Without the parameter, I did not find a similar status for USB in the listing.

Ah, I meant dmesg on my computer, and then attaching the phone to the computer via some high-speed connection. It triggers like that both on USB-A 3 and USB-C on my Frame.work, but it’s working perfectly on my USB 1.1 hub :’-)

After reboot web links in grid is missing icons. After rebooting home screen, web link icons is back.

Another issue happened multiple times: AUX port is not working, even after restart the audio service via the utilities tool

Isn’t it a known issue that the headphone jack will not work on IV and V Xperias at this time with the beta release?
If I am not mistaken it was announced somewhere

Would it be possible to publish an OS update that updates the browser and what else the C2 got?

I mean this despite the new binaries fixing everything and maybe taking more time, more like tossing us 10iv (and 10v) users a bone.

Please toss us a bone for xmas!

You can follow the steps here to update the browser: Install
From what I understand, SFOS 5 and the paid license with Android App Support, etc. is hopefully to be released before the end of the year and will include the new Sony binaries.

Sure I installed ESR91, and quite sure I didn’t mess it up, but essentially nothing works, from the sfos forum app’s web view to sites showing as mobile.

I have my work phone which I use for browsing, because this is the kind of stuff a Jolla release simply wouldn’t have (me maybe making a mistake, or there being some ancillary issue).

Samesies for running Android apps on it.

So to re-iterate, there is no guarantee the new blobs will work by the end of the year, so it would be nice to get whatever Jolla has in their CI pipeline and passes the same tests they had for the current release.

Not just what hopefully will exist.

I’ve been using it on and off the oast couple of days, and tested it with the SIM card. LTE outgoing calls work flawlessly (I didn’t test the incoming calls). Receiving SMS works as intended but sending SMS doesn’t work (it does when LTE is switched off). Tested on MTS network in Serbia.
Battery life is quite bad, audio jack doesn’t work, and other bugs already reported here.

Other than that, the device is quite fast and lovely (compared to my old XA2 Ultra and even the 10 III I had before).

Come on, Sony…we are all waiting for newer/better blobs so we can make the new devices our daily drivers.

I have been using my Xperia 10 IV since sfos 4.6.0.15 became available. First with sim card, but since mic and speaker (echo ) when phone call is terrible, only bluetooth headset is an option. Now i use the Xperia without sim card. First impression was terrible battery draining. The Xperia is now more than 2 years old and was a substitute to my Jolla C. A month ago i experienced that wifi 5Ghz have less reception then 2.4 Ghz wifi. I started turning of wifi when not using the phone. Much better! After a while the phone starts draining battery heavily. My fix is to reboot the phone. If the battery is charged to 100% it could last for 3 days without charging and 1 hour daily usage. I don’t know why the phone sometimes start draining battery heavily but I’m still investigating. :relaxed:

I’ve been using my Xperia 10 IV as daily driver since I could get my hands on the image. It’s my most pleasant smartphone experience since my Nokia N9. Here’s my “damnit, that’s annoying” bug list that’s still remaining:

  • Disabling Bluetooth requires a reboot to be able to reenable (Feedback on Xperia 10 IV - #11 by Systematics); I occasionally tap the Bluetooth button by accident.
  • Lack of camera support is annoying (but FishEye + a Sony CyberShot RX100 VII works wonders, flashlight remains annoying).
  • Microphone support in apps is lacking (I want voice notes in Whisperfish!), as is the 3.5mm support (or any other audio config). I suppose this is the same issue as the speaker phone not working
  • Bluetooth microphone call quality is horrible (possibly also the same issue as above)
  • Flight mode requires a reboot (but I don’t fly that often)

I’m not experiencing the battery drain that @Pam talks about though. It runs two days on a battery (with heavy use), and I’m more than happy with that.

Some trivia: lack of camera and microphone are holding me back from implementing voice and video calls in Whisperfish.

(In other news: did anyone try the Xperia 10 IV with SFOS in the US yet? I’ll be in California shortly, I’ll bring my C2 just in case)

It looks like Sony published new Android 14 binaries.

so for the 10V some people tried it and there have been still a lot of issues. Does anybody tried it on 10IV and can relate?

I kinda think (and don’t quote me on this) that Jolla needs to build SFOS around these blobs (if they are indeed good enough and issue-free), test it out extensively, and then release it so we can all benefit from it. Testing out just blobs with the current build will bring no noticeable improvement.

Yes, it would be nice to know if the blobs need integrating or if they’re supposed to just work.

for sure fingerprint is disabled in ui and i think (not sure) that camera too, also i am not sure about jack audio. can somebody test jack output on new blobs?

They published an official port of Lineage OS for Xperia 10 IV. I tested it, and everything seems to be working. I’m not sure how much Lineage changes AOSP (or if it’s even based on AOSP), but I have high hopes that SFOS will work well with the new blobs.

The question is, when will it work well…

Hopefully, soon (fingers crossed)…

I thought that LinageOS is not using the ASOP Blobs but the normal Android one which the Smartphone ships with. Which are extracted and then used.

Edit: I was right they are extracted from the phone and then used to build the Image: GitHub · Where software is built
