BUILD ID = OS VERSION (Settings > About product): 4.0.1.48
HARDWARE (XA2, Xperia 10…): XA2
UI LANGUAGE: ENGLISH
REGRESSION: (compared to previous public release: Yes, No, ?): Yes

DESCRIPTION:

When attempting to open a valid (e.g. pdf, doc, etc) email attachment this often fails with a briefly displayed error message … something like ‘inode not found’ or similar.

Clicking on the attachment a second, or maybe a third time opens it correctly

PRECONDITIONS:

received email with a valid attachment that Sailfish can open

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

  1. open the email
  2. click on the attachment
  3. ‘inode’ error message occurs
  4. repeat (2) to (4) either gives you the error message again or it works and the attachment opens

EXPECTED RESULT:

Valid attachment always opens

ACTUAL RESULT:

Error message and attachment does not open.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

(Please ALWAYS attach relevant data such as logs, screenshots, etc…)

For me, it always works for the first attachment, but fails for any others.

EDIT clarification: When I said first, I meant the first one opened, not necessarily the first one in the list. If I have say two attachments, then I can open either one, but if I try and open the other, I get the error message. This is the case for any number of attachments.

So the workaround is to open one attachment, close the email app, reopen it, open the next attachment, etc.

I suspect it is a problem with spaces in the path not being escaped… but pretty weird that it works at all then.

Yes, it’s borring. See Email attachment - opening attachment display "inode error" - #8 by dcaliste, I’m proposing a fix upstream.
