Fahrplan thread

If you are at it you could also try to add late prediction for the DB via https://bahnvorhersage.de/.

(P.S. like its just more if a throw it in to the disscussion with no real expection to do it)
(There also is no api so you would have to talk to them directly)

Considering how the api drift is shaping up with the very old codebase of Fahrplan, I think I’ll build a prototype for transitous or collaborate on integration in Multimodal. It could be a very light weight app and the obvious cross-border benefit can’t be overstated.

I began developing a Python library for Transitous a few days ago, but it appears to lack real-time data (a key aspect of MultiModal) in my area. As a result, I’m uncertain about how useful it might actually be.

I can see the RPM in the chum rtepository in a browser, but Chum GUI does not list @poetaster version as available for my XA2. There is no compatibility with such a device?

do you mean the Multi-modal rpm? It’s noarch so it makes no difference what device. Are you running 4.6? You can test to see if it’s available using the ‘testing’ repos, but I’d just wait, the latest version is not in chum proper yet. If you have issues, you can also directly download an rpm from github:

EDIT: to test I explicitly set chum gui to ‘testing’ and installed from there. That’s how I test if it’s ready to go to chum ‘proper’.

Yeah, I am running Sauna 4.6.0.15. So I guess I would need to enable developer updates to observe your build of Fahrplan2 in Chum GUI.

Sorry, I haven’t made any updates to Fahrplan yet. I had just made quick updates to Multimodal as an alternative. Fixing the dbahn backend in Fahrplan is going to take some time. In fact, I might just develop a new app instead.

Ok. Hmmm. The realtime traffic stuff on the routing.spline.de site seemed realtime  But I should just ask, ‘which data’? I’ll do some fast and dirty prototyping with pure qml/js just to see how well it matches on routing.

But I should just ask, ‘which data’?

Big Data Google Kraken :octopus:

I think Motis/Transitous were created to AVOID google  But, I think all the data ends up in the great big pot of bitrot soup eventually. This is good. It will poison the LLMs

Do you mean if a departure/arrival is late and the like?

Yes, or when a train is cancelled, which happens often enough here.

These are 2 different data points. GTFS is industry standard to share data about timetables and routes, and quite a lot of these are available as open data. Data about vehicle position isn’t always available since not all transport companies publish it.

There is https://busmaps.com/, where publicly available data points are published.

Hmmm i liked fahrplan app. It is a pity does it not work at all.

Hi

I usually use the bahn.de backend which was working but notice that this has started returning a message “An error occurred with the backend”. (Fahrplan Version 2.0.46-1)

I see that Multimodal App which uses the Deutsch Bahn API (bahn.de ?) has just posted an update to "fix authentication issues with Deutsche Bahn API.

The 9292ov.nl backend doesn’t seem to be returning any results (London St Pancras to Lille Europe) although the results page shows Dep. Arr. Dur. Trans. column headings.

Happy to do what I can to test a pre-release. (Xperia 10 iii and 10V)

Thanks @poetaster for all previous development and for plans to implement Transitous.

On Android I’ve tested it with Bimba and it works reasonably well (and it does not have full implementation of GTFS-data). I’m not a heavy user and have seen only couple of connectivity breakdowns.

Also Transportr is having a thread Worldwide routing with transitous.org · Issue #954 · grote/Transportr · GitHub about using Transitous and there are some background comments about the project (don’t know if true or not).

I’m working on a new api backed fix for the bahn.de backend. It’ll take me some time, but it’s a fairly simple api

Maybe this thread is a good place to drop this 2 links (with no intention of course):

Delfi or efa as backend for fahrplan would be great.

There are a number of efi backends. Munich, among others.I’m not sure what the advantage of Delfi?
