Does Jolla support reply [2]?

Hello everyone,

It’s been quite a while since my last visit to the forum.

About two years ago I started using Sailfish X on my Xperia XA2. During that time I rarely visited the forum. I stopped contacting the Jolla team and simply learned how to live with a Sailfish phone.

Now I need some support again.

On 28 June I submitted a request to transfer my Sailfish X licence to another Xperia XA2 because my original device became unusable after the screen backlight failed.

At the moment I’m waiting for the licence transfer, so I would like to ask if anyone knows how long this process usually takes.

It used to take about a month if not a bit more.
But that was before all the J2 orders and the endless spam they receive now.

Oh my, I didn’t expect such a period.

In such a situation, I’d like to remind of my idea from two years ago:
self-transferring-a-licence

Yep. You can see my replies as well since I was going through that on my Xperia at the time.
It took about 4 weeks back then for me.

Might be easier to just buy new license, 25€ isn’t that steep price.

Edit. They are just so super busy and will probably be for foreseeable future with Jolla phone and all requests towards that. And they haven’t even held summer holidays yet, so I would imagine this to take months.

I asked a question about my purchase and they took 6 weeks to respond very friendly with apologies for being swamped. So yes they do reply.

Honestly, I’m happy to pay the €24,90 every time I change devices. Took less than a day to register on my new device.

I literally did that five minutes ago after discovering that, among my pile of development devices, there was still one that, strangely, had not received any updates for a while.

I made the same request to Jolla last month to switch from an XA2 to a 10III, but I didn’t receive a response.
In a spirit of support for Jolla, I didn’t hesitate to renew my license. And while paying for it, I read something I hadn’t noticed before—basically, the license is tied to a specific person and an IMEI number, so theoretically, license transfers aren’t possible.
I hope this helps.
Have a great day

There is a support page on the Sailfish_X_Licence

From https://docs.sailfishos.org/

“One Sailfish OS licence is valid on one device and one Jolla account.”
“The licence cannot be transferred from one licence group to another. For instance, an Xperia X licence is not valid for Xperia XA2 devices.”
