Disabling one SIM causes both SIMs to lose connectivity and requires reboot

REPRODUCIBILITY: Always

OS VERSION: 5.0 (build 5.0.0.76)

HARDWARE: Sony Xperia 10 III

UI LANGUAGE: English

REGRESSION: No

DESCRIPTION:

============

When disabling one SIM card via Settings → SIM cards, both SIM cards temporarily lose network connectivity (including mobile data).

PRECONDITIONS:

==============

Two SIM cards inserted and active.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

===================

  1. Insert two SIM cards

  2. Go to Settings → SIM cards

  3. Disable one SIM card

EXPECTED RESULT:

================

Only the selected SIM card should be disabled.

The other SIM should remain connected without interruption.

ACTUAL RESULT:

==============

Both SIM cards lose signal temporarily.

Mobile data is also interrupted on the active SIM.

In some cases, the remaining active SIM does not reconnect automatically.

A device reboot is required before the active SIM starts working again.

MODIFICATIONS:

==============

None

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

=======================

This behavior is confusing from a user perspective, as the UI suggests that only one SIM is affected.
The device likely uses Dual SIM Dual Standby (DSDS), but the behavior is still unexpected from a usability perspective.
Similar issue has been reported earlier on Xperia 10 II:

Duplicate of [Xperia 10 III] Turning off SIM 2 takes SIM 1 with it

Forum bot didn’t find that. Otherwise, I would have linked to it and might not have written the whole report.

This is actually one of those numerous ‘evergreen’ bugs, first reported like half a decade ago (if not more) and then several more times, confirmed by Jolla guys themselves as reproducible by them, yet never fixed.

I only just realized that my car doesn’t recognize two SIM cards and always picks the wrong one, so I thought the problem would be solved by removing one of the SIM cards.

Maybe just change the places?

I have tried to change places and it not help. Car want to use always wrong sim. I don’t know why. Maybe the wrong one sends stronger signal or something I don’t know.

I am not useng 2 SIMs, just out of curiosity : are there some additional settings for sim cards, wath to use for the call, for SMS or for Internet? Maybe is here some workaround?

My solution is: Go to settngs > SIM cards > Use SIM card and choose there SIM1 or SIM 2. Then mobile network is open for both SIMs but I think I can use only the sim I have chosen to use. And not disabled for both sims. When I*m not driving I choose SIM mode to Always ask.
