10 II: Disabling SIM 1 breaks connectivity on SIM 2

REPRODUCIBILITY: 100%
OS VERSION: 4.6.0.13
HARDWARE: Sony Xperia 10 II
UI LANGUAGE: English
REGRESSION: Unknown

DESCRIPTION:

In a dual-sim setup, disabling the first sim-card will break all connectivity on the second as well. The only way to get it back is to either reboot the phone, or re-enable the first sim-card, disable the second, re-enable it and then disable the first again. Then it apparantly has to search for networks from the start again.

PRECONDITIONS:

A dual-sim phone and two sim-cards are required.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

  1. Disable sim 1
  2. Notice network on sim 2 is now broken

EXPECTED RESULT:

The network on the enabled sim card should simply stay up

ACTUAL RESULT:

Network breaks.

Same thing on Sony Xperia 10 iii. Helps: devel-su systemctl restart ofono.

It’s one of those bugs that have been around for years. Acknowledged and even reproduced by Jolla, but sadly never fixed.

See e.g. the following bug report from early 2022 (2,5 years ago):

P.S. It “works” the other way around, too, i.e. disabling SIM2 breaks connectivity on SIM1.
