Battery charged to 99% when disconnected

PRECONDITIONS:

???

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

  1. Set charging limit to 80%
  2. Make sure the charge limit option is set on
  3. Connect the phone to a charger

EXPECTED RESULT:

Phone charges to 80%

ACTUAL RESULT:

Phone charges to 99%

MODIFICATIONS:

I have developer mode enabled

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

I will test more, for reproducability, and how the phone charges after a reboot, but I have to discharge a bit first. I have seen weird charging behaviour before and rebooted in the mean time, but I wasn’t specifically looking for it yet.

Yes, we have also noticed that the charging limit is not always respected, and the issue is being investigated.

Why? Mine still work as well (and will have to work some more years as well), but so do my N9. Only the XA2+ might get some rest once the JP2 arrives…

Cheers

Isn’t the limit you set the new 100% ?

No, it still shows up as whatever percentage it’s actually at (at least on the C2)

I wish it was a typo. Years nowadays just fly by so fast, that I probably just wrote it by mistake.

i have the problem that my phone does not charge above 74% (limited to 90%)

is this the same?

jolla phone 2026

I found: when I restart my phone before charging it works much better

I found that with an old 5V2A charger Ihave no such problems at all and limits are respected. With a new PD charger charging also behaved strange.

The 5.2.0.15 update, which is now available, should fix this

Sadly I have observed this issue on my X10IV port too, hoping it will be sorted when I upgrade to 5.2.

For the first week or so, it worked really reliably, but recently it charges to 99% every time.

That said, the official Jolla port for this phone never even had the option to set the charge limit, so working sometimes is better than completely unavailable. In the meantime I’m trying BatteryBuddy to see if it will work. Will report back with results next time I charge the phone.

Edit: Battery Buddy works perfectly!
