The Finnish railway operator VR has an app “VR Matkalla”. Previously I could select a seat using the seat map on the app. Recently I noticed that to be impossible. I have an app version 1.48.8 installed from Aurora store.
Is there some incompatibility on the app or somewhere else? The same feature seems to work on my old Nokia Android phone. Please find the screenshot attached.
My phone is XPeria 10 II using Sauna 4.6.0.13

This is extremely strange, exactly the same thing happened with the new release of deutsche bahn app (they made a rework at the beginning of this year). Maybe there is adedicated component for this kind of stuff in the Google service framework?

I couldn’t confirm this on Sony Xperia 10 III running Sailfish OS 4.6.0.13 with the same VR Matkalla app version 1.48.8. Seat choosing opens nicely though it takes some time to load first. Also, I have no Google Services etc. on my phone either.

I just installed VR Matkalla App to my new Jolla C2 and seating is possible to be selected. App version is 1.51.17.
On Xperia 10 II selecting the seat is not possible when using that same app version.
Could that be related to Android version? On my Xperia 10 II Andoid version is 11 when on Jolla C2 the version is 13.
@Moppa5 is your Android version 12? If yes that might be an explanation of the feature.
I also have Android version 11 with API level 30 so it seems that it isn’t just Android version related.

Due to unexpected circumstances, I no longer have a device that reproduces the issue (my X10III probably has a worn out flash and refuses to boot up, and my X10II is running Android currently). This only affect some devices - most X10III devices for example don’t suffer from this, but mine did… This makes it extra difficult to pinpoint.

On my Xperia 10 III running latest SFOS I have the same problem as @davidrasch with the App of Deutsche Bahn (DB navigator)

On Xperiax 10 II I have microG Services 0.3.4.40226 and microG Services 0.3.4.240913 installed with no success to see seats.
On Jolla C2 currently I have no microG installed and the app behaves correctly.

Well, at least for me the “VR matkalla” app completely broke down. The app wants to start the default system browser. If it is the Sailfish browser, the complaints is that it is too old. If it is Firefox, it tries opening vr.fi with error “Cannot compelete request” and a dialog saying “Open in another app, Would you like to leave Firefox to view this content? CANCEL OPEN”. OPEN leads back to the VR Matkalla app start screen. CANCEL leads to “Cannot Complete Request / Additional information about this problem or error is currently unavailable / Try Again”.
I don’t quite understand how requiring the customer to use upper/lowercase/numbers/special characters make anything more secure, they could have just mandated a minimum length for the password and instructed people to use a passphrase.
I’m using Xperia X 10 II, VR Matkalla 1.51.26, microG Services 0.3.3.240913. Everything just worked before this debacle.
And it seems that paying with this Edenred thing works only in the app, not the actual site with a browser. Wonderful.
