Hello, this is usually a camera issue; I’ve mentioned it before. The focus and detail on the Xperia 10 III aren’t great for me either. I think there’s only one solution: keep your camera as clean as possible and avoid leaving fingerprints on it easily.
I’ve got a Xperia 10 III, and the only time I’ve had problems with my Android bank app was when trying to scan a QR code on a monochrome POS terminal – that one took several minutes to register. The app has no problems reading codes from paper, nor newer terminals with colour screens.
I don’t think this is a Android problem. I have the exact same problem with many apps on my X10III. For me the solution is to change camera to the front camera. Works all the time.
I start with back camera, and when that doesn’t work, I quickly change camera and flip the phone.
Ok yes but this would not be a solution for me things just need to works for what the need for I understand Jolla can not fix anything anyway, i move tomorow back to Android and would sell the Xperia 10 III with my account and licence if someone who has interessed into the phone the can send me a DM… anyway thanks everyone for the helps!
EDIT: I just check my app but i can not switch into the app to a other camera there is no button to do that it uses as default the back camera….
No it dont use the Sailfish main camera there is no button …… i have try and look around on the screen to see if there would be a button….Anyway i have order a Motorola Rarz 60 now and just move to Android for me Sailfish os not usable if the not fix this.
That’s a pity… and you’ll be missed. The issue is only on my Xperia 10III and not on other SFOS devices. I managed as a ‘work around’ on the 10III to use the front camera instead to read QR or bar codes. This has worked far better than with the main camera.
Yes i read this from other users, but i can not switch to the front camera into the apps….As far i can see this apps using the android camera…. build into there app….
Scanning QR codes usually works ok on my Xperia 10Iii but if i scan a QR code on my laptop and the background is dark (dark mode) then it can be a lot trickier to get it to scan the code.
if i have low light in the room it often works even worse.
I do change the distans to the code and then hold it still for some time and it often read the code but sometimes i use my hand in front of camera to get it to focus ok.
If the background is white then i never had any problems.
The only android app that that irritates me some is Coop scan and pay, a app to scan and pay in coop stores.
There i scan barcodes of items and i often need to change the distans and angle to the code and hope it scans ok and if there are any light reflection it’s often even harder ro scan a code.
After scanning items there are a big QR code to scan at checkout and that code is very hard to scan and i often need to stand pretty far away from the code to get it to work since it doesn’t auto zoom and the QR code is rather big.
The problem with distans is that people walks between you and the QR code that i try to scan.
