Buetooth connection with BMW

I have a very annoying problem with my hands free connection to my BMW i5. Every few days (sometimes even daly) my BMW “forgets” about the pairing, which means, that I have to delete the pairing in my phone and make a new pairing. I supposed, that it is a problem of BMW, but my dealer said, there are no such problems known. So I guess, it is somehow connected to the sailfish bluetooth implementation. I have a sony xperia 10 III and newet sailfish version 5.0.0.68. Had anyone observed a similar problem? And found a solution for it?

This problem is not exclusively connected to BMW, and there are multiple reports about it (and no solution)

It’s a SFOS problem. I had this with a third party Bluetooth adapter in my old car as well as with the actual Volkswagen devices. Especially according the latter it seems that the phone just forgets the media connection - the car can find the phone itself for the phone functions, but for music I always have to delete and pair again. (but as SFOS is just my secondary phone and I also don’t need to use the hands free function in my car every day I can’t say if this is behavior is standard or random).

Does the car device literally disappear from SFOS BT pairing list?

If not, try turning Visibility ON in SFOS Bluetooth control panel, and see if car is then able to immediately connect to the phone.

This workaround was discovered in one of these BT audio problems :thread:s, and consistently works for me with X10III + Dynavin N7 HU combo.

I think, this is another problem. The problem you all refer to I used to have it in my old car (Audi etron). But here, the car forgets about my sailfish device, it disappears in the list of paired devices in my car, but the car is still in the list of paired devices of my sailfish device. Phone calls and audio streaming works quite well, as soon as it is (re-)paired

I have to do this after a reboot of the phone.

After reboot of phone:
Car does not see phone, I then enable visibility for 3 min, the car sees the phone and connects in 5+ seconds. No more problems until next reboot.

The phone disappearing in the list of paired devices is indeed odd behaviour. Do you have other devices that are able to reconnect?

I used to drive 2012 MB C Class, and to get music to play through the car speakers, i found i had to Restart the Audio system using Sailfish Utilities before it would play.

Phone calls would also work this way, but after ending a call, it would sometimes need a restart before audio would work properly

sometimes my children’s phones are also in the list of paired devices. If it happens, all paired phones disappear. So either all phones stay in the list of paired devices, or all disappear. But my children don’t use my car regularly. So I can’t say, whether it happens with their iphones or android phones too.

I always have the problem when I still have the Wi-Fi turned on. Then there are constant connection problems. Since last month, I have had a better data plan and have completely left the Wi-Fi off. Since then, I haven’t had a single day with connection problems. By the way, the Wi-Fi still showed me an active connection when I was far from home, thus blocking the mobile network. Current phone: C2. Car kit: Renault MediaNav.
