Banking apps on Sailfish OS

On Xperia 10, SFOS 5.0, microG 0.3.15 and MobilePay 10.9.0 works just fine.

I logged in using my existing bank-id app (transferring), not registering using my passport. That’s the only time it asks for NFC, right?

It could be that registering a new certificate is the only time NFC is needed, I am unsure. I have never tried transferring, since I wanted a backup in case something went wrong. Maybe transferring is what I should go for. I will look into this and make a try.

All possible persons should send feedback regarding this to Mobilepay. In current climate I can’t understand why they lock things down

If I’m testing apps for banks headquartered in different countries, for example Monzo (UK) and Bunq (Netherlands) but I’m a user in Ireland, should I add the entry under their respective countries, or where I’m located when testing? AFAICT it’s the same binary on the different app stores (Google says so at least) but just wanted to check what the best approach might be for the list.

You should add them under the market (country) they are intended for. You can put a comment at the end that it was tested i Ireland.

With bunq or Revolut it’s more complicated. Both are registered with Central Bank of Ireland as foreign banks and issue Irish IBANs, while bunq is incorporated in the Netherlands, and Revolut Bank UAB (EU-only entity) is incorporated in Lithuania

I suppose, there should be a separate category (“country”) for banks and financial institutions which are doing business across the EU, and not mainly in the state, they’re incorporated in

In one way, yes. But on the other hand the goal of this list is to show a person the states of the apps in his market. So I think it would be better to have them sorted under all countries where they are available. There might also be some differences in the apps in different countries.

Just use your common sense.

The Nordea website works with the Sailfish OS browser in 5.2. The websites view features a mobile view which looks just like in the app.

Nordea Mobile (Suomi) and Nordea ID works in my J2 just normally. Strange that setting up did only need my pin code, I do not remember all the steps, but no actions from my old Android phone were needed.

Added information about OP Mobiili 84.0.0 and MobilePay 10.16.0 with the new Jolla Phone (2026) to the list (under Finland).

Please note that the issue with Sailfish OS 5.2 on new Jolla Phone (2026) where some banking apps (N26, Bunq) can’t take a selfie may be related to this bug.

This bug is acknowledged in announcement of 5.2.0.15 as a known problem, the cause is known, and I expect the fix to be included in the subsequent version.

Latest mobilepay >= 10.29 dont work on xperia 10 II, SFOS 5.1.0.11, complaining it cant start.
Thank God 10.9 works still.

OP Mobiili 84.0.0 crashes almost immediately upon opening. Jolla phone 2026 SFOS 5.2.0.15 with microG 0.3.15.

Same issue. Jolla phone 2026 SFOS 5.2.0.15 with microG 0.3.15. re-registeration doesn’t fix this.

There is a “fix” to make OP-mobiili to function, but the trick is system wide, so Jolla don’t recommend it. I believe the fix is somewhere here on the forums if one wants to search (I don’t know where).

For the MobilePay you would need to install version 4429694 via manual installation in Aurora Store. Then make sure that no traces of previously installed MobilePay are not lying around in the system files (Android_Storage > Android > data) (you’d need to install File Browser from Openrepos to do that easiest). Then install Vivaldi browser from Aurora. Vivaldi will get you through the registration in MobilePay.

Enable Developer-mode and use following command in Terminal or SSH

devel-su sh -c 'echo kernel.yama.ptrace_scope = 0 > /etc/sysctl.d/91-opmobiili.conf'

Then use this command (or reboot the phone to skip this step)

devel-su sysctl -w kernel.yama.ptrace_scope=0

and now OP Mobiili should work.
