WISE. Belgium. Jolla C2 microG installed. Works without any problems.
The app for Argenta (Belgium) has always worked on all versions of Sailfish, on probably all devices (at least on Jolla Phone, Jolla Tablet, Jolla C, Jolla C2, Xperia 10 II, Xperia X), with all versions of App Support and regardless whether or not MicroG was installed.
Wouldnât it make sense to recreate this well-intended but long and difficult to read list as a big table (or a separate table for each country) with colour/emoji coding, and just drop the twentyfour (!) different categories? Like this:
| Bank name | App name | Does it work? | Extra info | Version tested | OS version + device |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Good bank | Good app | you need microG | 5.0.0.72, Jolla C2 | ||
| Good bank | Okay app | version x.x.x.x doesnât work well, you need version x.x.x.y | |||
| Bad bank | Bad app | ||||
| Good bank | Web-based | native browser | 5.0.0.72, Jolla C2 |
We could also break the one long list to separate per country lists and use the Hide details -function to hide the all the lists, so the reader can find their country of choice easier/faster and expand it to check only the details that are related to their interests.
That would make it less long but wouldnât really increase legibility. You (literally) need a guide to interpret the list, with all the different codes, version numbers, usernames, and so on. Even contributing requires a literal guide, which is a bit much when the intention is just to inform others whether or not your banking app is functional.
I agree the number of different codes has ran out of control, but Iâm also worried if the average forum user can foobar the table formatting when adding new banks to itâŠ
Well, I just learned how to do it when making that post! Thereâs a visual editor that just requires you to right click to insert a new row, and then you just fill in the details as needed. Seems easier to explain than the current instructions, at least to me.
I know making/editing a table is easy, but I was talking about average user. You do know how stupid people can be, if given the chance? At minimum you should test how breaking the table formatting affects the readability.
I started this thread and table and Iâm all for making it more readable and useful in any way. Here are my thoughts.
- I started this so that the next time I choose a bank I can choose one that I can use with SailfishOS. So I will scroll to my country and the bank Iâm interested in. There I see what experiences other users have had. The format we have now works for that but it could be more beautiful.
- I wouldnât like to have have less information in the table. Different versions of the app/SFOS/MicroG can yeld different results.
- Originally I wanted to know how the apps work with SFOS. Somebody added how the web interfaces work on different browsers. That increased the number of codes considerably. You could argue that that should be in an other table but I think it didnât make the table more difficult to read. You just have to remember which codes you are intrerested in.
- Now everybody is encouraged to add their experience to the list themselves. I sometimes return to list to change some formatting gone wrong but on the whole the list doesnât require much maintainence and errors in editing donât make it unreadable. I canât guarantee to take care of the table forever so if it is moved to an other medium it shouldnât become more fragile in a way that one userâs editing error makes it disappear for others.
Fungerer ruter appen og helsenorge appen Sailfish OS. Vurderer Ă„ kjĂžpe jolla c2 community
None of those are banking applications and should probably be in another topic, but anywayâŠ
I havenât tried purchasing a ticket (not in Norway, and not in need of a ticket), but Ruter runs and I can look up journeys.
Helsenorge starts, but I donât have a way of logging in (not a Norwegian citizen).
There should definitly be a list like this on travelling apps.

Starting with version 10.0.0, Banco Mediolanum has redesigned its application and now has a mandatory dependency on Google services, which it checks for when the app starts up. If they are not available, it displays a dialogue box indicating that the application cannot be used without them, and when you accept this, it closes.
When there is no alternative to use Webapp via Desktop browser I would switch the bank. Last year I needed to look for a new bank (moving to another country), it was one critical requirement that I can use my Debian powered laptop from 2006 to do the banking stuff without needing Windows, Android or iOS.
- Germany
In SailfishOS-Browser (ESR91) and Linux-Desktop working:
- ING Bank with Photo-TAN-Generator (Page complains about old SFOS-Browser-Version, but still working)
- Targobank with Photo-TAN-Generator
Apps not tested, because not needed.
Same on V+R Bank in Germany

Android Apps on SailfishOS or Web Access via Sailfish Browser?
Does anyone got SÀÀstöpankki Tunnistus (Finnish bank identification application) working? The app has been saying that the setup cannot proceed as it is installed from untrusted source and not from Google Play Store. On the latest SFOS and the latest MicroG.
Maybe changing the source in /home/.appsupport/instance/defaultuser/data/system/packages.xml or /home/.android/data/system/packages.xml from com.aurora.store to com.android.vending will help?
Web access. No android app required
