what do you mean? It’s Xiaomi Pad 6, not pro or any other option just pad 6, and my version has 8GB ram but any version will work
I don’t have keyboard or stylus, mrcyjanek donated the device to me for the sake of making port on it, so perhaps we gotta bother him to donate the rest for me to make sure they work xd The device does show up in sfos so there’s high hope it will
great, thanks. just wanted to be sure.
Added tablet onto the VerdandiTeam website
https://verdanditeam.com/device/pipa
As this port is from verdanditeam you’ll have benefits such as long support, my apps preinstalled and update app
As to port currently video recording is not working because of quite a new android base which will be fixed when camera2 api will be fully supported and speaker’s stereo is in wrong orientation. Because the tablet has 4 speakers, you can have stereo vertically or horizontally and currently its locked vertically. Pen and keyboard remain untested, keyboard has small chances of working since I had to disable android service that handles it (i’ll mostlikely have to reverse-engineer it for sfos anyway), pen has larger chances of working, other than that everything else should work fine just fine
I have to do bunch of housekeeping work before release still but it shouldn’t be too long maybe like another weekend
(I’m trying to modify splash logo to add VerdandiTeam branding )
Progress update, I’ve done couple house keeping tasks to move all fixes to repos and build more legit image, enabled jolla store and one user already flashed it and as far as I’m concerned everything beside the stuff that doesn’t work, seems to be working so we’re getting close to release, it just needs bit heavier testing and one or two fixes
Port is basically finished, some bugs will be fixed as sailfishos on 21 base matures, and I’ll release it probably tomorrow
And the port is done and released! Enjoy
Congatulations for the great work. Any videos of it? Will Waydroid work? Thanks
Plenty of videos on my group. Waydroid won’t work unless you make it work
also here’s video A tablet port from verdanditeam - #35 by Mister_Magister
Finally I got a xiaomi pad 6 (8Gb-258Gb) and I’m using it with sailfish OS. I only can say that it’s the best experience with sailfish OS I’ve ever had in a device: it works very smooth, I can open several apps and never crashes, and experience with videos player (microtube) is awesome. I’ve found any significant bugs at this moment.
Maybe I would have prefered a 8’ tablet, but finally I feel confortable using it. I’ve missed a tablet with sailfish long time ago, so I would recommend this tablet. Thank you so much, @Mister_Magister!!
If you are thinking about getting this tablet, make sure it is global model, not CN device with global rom, otherwise you won’t be able to unlock bootloader. And if you receive it with hyperOS 1 (android 14), do not update it to hyperOS 2. For more detais see xda-forum
By the way if its not obvious, NEVER BUY IT SECOND HAND. Second hand it will 100% be updated to hyperos 2 (or ask seller beforehand) and then you’ll have massive pain to unlock it. Pad 6 is new enough to still be available brand new although that surely can vary per country
After a long odyssey (thanks Xiaomi for the senseless bootloader policy) I finally have my Xiaomi Pad 6 with SailfishOS running.
And it’s just mega! I have never experienced SailfishOS like this before. Everything runs very quickly and smoothly. Also, I have not experienced a browser crash so far. I can only recommend it, but unfortunately I have to warn that it can be exhausting if you want to unlock the bootloader.
If you wanted to have a tablet with SailfishOS, you can actually only take the Xiaomi Pad 6. So get it and flash it!
And of course big thanks to Mister_Magister for the awesome port and the support with flashing.
Just don’t buy it second hand or ask seller in advance if its hyperos 1.0 and you’re golden
I mean you still have to wait like 5 weeks but its simple…ish
Noted. Interesting. How many feeds? I have a relatively small number and ram usage is low.
You’re asking the wrong person, I was just responding to the screenshot of Kuba77.
First of all I’d like to thank @Mister_Magister for keeping up porting Sailfish OS.
It’s great to have some skilled people in the community, that put so much effort in bringing this nice OS to life, where Jolla stops being ambitios.
I think Xiaomi Pad 6 was a good choice in terms of hardware (scale, weight an speed).
So thumbs up.
I just got mine, seem to have avoided successfully any update (Android 13 / MIUI Pad Global 14.070) and I’d like to do everything right on the first attempt.
And that’s where my confusion begins.
So, sorry for the (probably in your eyes stupid) questions.
-
First step of preparation - unlock bootloader.
Is it really that complicated (with xiaomi account), like described here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=THKAQ4LT9o0 (for HyperOS)
or here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OK_lHgNTdqQ (for MIUI) ?
…in the past I did it only on lots of Xperias…
If so, a quick yes would help (and I’ll stick to the video)…and if not probably a hint… -
stay on Android 14 (…I prevented updates and have Android 13 TKQ1.221114.001 + MIUI Pad Global 14.0.7.0 TMZEUXM)
Would it work with 13 in your opinion / from your experience?
I’m just afraid of trying to update to Android 14 …and end up with HyperOS 2 and get stuck. That’s why I’m asking in advance, even though I suspect the answer would be …14 it is.
And of course any help is appreciated.
cheers and a happy weekend
- They’re the same thing. Idk what’s the weird “php” folder he got, video is not in english but its not needed. you just have a xiaomi account older than month, bind it to the device in settings → mi unlock status like on the video, you might need community app to log in but you do not unlock bootloader through it, get xiaomi flash tool https://xiaomiflashtool.com/ and unlock it that way
- you need android 14 but you can just flash it afterwards (better be safe and do it afterwards)
If you’re unsure and have telegram account you can join my group as there are people who have done it already (namely @carmenfdezb)
Did someone try to get Waydroid running? Without Android apps or at least more recent browser engine, it’s seems quite limited usage for me (I consider to buy this device)
