Xperias IV and V are somewhat on the way, and of course delays and missteps caused a lot of frustrated feedbacks on this forum.
But here I wish to open a special happy thread for enthousiasts who would enjoy to exchange about the positive side of things, and also questions and tips of course!
Here is my first one: What binaries are the ones that are likely to be the final ones used in the non beta version? anyone knows?
Hi sailors!
I’m wondering so about one specific point: What binaries are the ones curently worked on by the Jolla team, on Xperia V and IV?
I would wish to test re-flash with the correct binaries, so that it would not be needed to flash again later if the binaries arent the correct ones…
v4 have been mentionned, as well as v5, v6, v7…
If anyone has a clue which one is the one currently picked for ironing.
v7 presumably.
But why would you want to flash binaries that are not compatible with your current version before an official build and announcement?
Flashing new binaries takes literal seconds and can be done separately from flashing all the rest.
Yes, but i can’t be bothered to search for you. (They are most definitely here somewhere).
Basically is is just running the relevant fastboot command(s) out of the flashing script.
…and once a new version arrives, it will need new binaries - so there are going to be instructions.
The best thing about my Xperia IV is: it keeps my life adventurous. Is the adaption ready before my 10ii finally dies? Is it earlier ready, then the J2?
Sorry, yusssufff, I’m on board since the beginning, I’m fan of Jolla and SFOS, I like the Xperias, and especially the 10IV, and I’m not in the group of people, who blame Jolla for this mess. But there is no enthusiasm and there wont be, before the adaption is finished. And to be honest, I wouldn’t bet, that it will be ready at anytime. It still can happen any time, that they have to give up. (and I would understand that).
I cited this part of the Community News earlier at another point, because it was told in the community meeting a few days ago - it’s good news, yes, but it doesn’t mean, this changes will arrive soon or even solve major issues completely. So, don’t be do excited about that, the way from excitement to disappointment could be shorter, if the excitement is bigger.
My x10 II died a bit early. Backside came loose causing moisture problem.
I bought a 10V and a C2. I’ve used the C2 since the beginning, until recently. Wifi works, bluetooth works, but they don’t work at the same time. I migrated everything to my 10V, so I could reflash, but I keep having the same problem, so I am now on my 10V. Since the battery status update, it is very useful. Sometimes android apps are quite slow, and of course the camera, flashlight, … are not working, but if you can live with that. It is pretty fun to use.
I recently had to help my grandma with an app on her pretty recent midrange samsung phone. I remember why I am not using that. I really can’t work with that thing. I am very happy with sailfish, with all its little quirks and annoyances, I prefer using it above android and ios, even without considering privacy and such. I would not recommend it for a daily driver to anyone but my most adventurous friends, but for me it is the best .
I get you, and I am a happy user for 10 years as well.
But pleeeeease, the only point of that “specific” thread is to share positive and happy thoughts about the IV and V. Doubtfull toughts have many other threads to spread on .
Hello!
I am a new user, today I installed SFOS on Xperia 10iv
The cameras don’t work, the sim doesn’t work.
But the phone is fast. I hope the final version will be fully functional
Yes me too, waiting with hopes for the full licence to come, on a 10 V i bought new last year….
It seems most functions are on the way by Jolla team , but likely the fingerprint scanner will stay unusable (too much complex to crack so far), so just we have to make peace with that .
On the IV may persist also the thing that charging is quite slow.
Camera, 3.5mm jack and eveb VoLTE are worked on and getting ironed right now with latest blobs
I am really happy so far that Jolla continues to work (slow but steadily) on this official port.
I personnally do not want to use a “community port” at all because of lacking the guarantee that has a product made by a real company, that i trust.
A community port would require blind trust to one person to put things together well and honestly (no whatever backdoor), and to keep updating it… I respect a lot community porters, amazing job, but that is not for me, I need a company to back up my phone OS…
So all in all, thank you very much Jolla to keep the work going on with the official 10 IV/V port, despite other works on Jolla Phone (2026) going on
