REPRODUCIBILITY: 100%
OS VERSION: 4.6.0.15
HARDWARE: Xperia 10 IV
UI LANGUAGE: slovak
REGRESSION:

DESCRIPTION:

  • file (*.png, *.jpg, *.txt)
  • apps Gallery, File Browser

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

  1. pair 10 IV with 10 III (4.6.0.15)
  2. share a file from 10 III to 10 IV or from 10 IV to 10 III

EXPECTED RESULT:

transferred file

ACTUAL RESULT:

not transferred file (10 III records an error during transfer and displays a message in Notifications)

MODIFICATIONS:

none

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

works between 10 IV and Ubuntu 23.10.

Until Fix i recommend Sailfish-Connect on SFOS and KDE-Connect installed on your Ubuntu for File Transfer (over WLAN, very quick!).

Thanks for the tip, I can work around this bug and transfer the file between the 10 III and the IV, but I would like the BT to work on the 10 IV at least as well as the 10 III.

If you don’t post proper bug reports, how do you expect anyone to help or even care?

I assume that Jollyboys internal testing for 10 IV/V has a more comprehensive list of issues than those officially published with version 4.6.0.15 (?). I didn’t want to generate error reports right away, but I can create an error report for each finding.

If the issue wasn’t mentioned in the release notes, nor there is already open bug report about the issue, I don’t see any reasons why one should wait to open a proper report about it.

Imho it is always better to create separate bug reports for different issues (as long as they are not related to each other) than bunch them up into one big dump of bugs found in a release. It makes it easier for people to append to existing reports even if they don’t run into everyone of them and it is easier to keep track in the future what has been fixed and what not.

Picture transfer (jpg) between Xperia 10 III (4.6.0.15) and Xperia 10 V (4.6.0.15) worked both ways for me.
I do not have an Xperia 10 IV available now.

I added to the report: 10 III with 4.6.0.13)

EDIT: Sorry, I was wrong, 10 III is also 4.6.0.15

I checked it again today, and you’re right, it works. I’ve restarted both devices several times (due to other issues) since finding the error. I will keep the bug report open if I find out under what conditions the error occurred.

I probably found out the procedure when file (picture) transfer fails. This is when using obexd-contentfilter-off (openrepos) to transfer a file other than an picture. I didn’t realize this when reporting the error, so I’m closing this ticket as unsubstantiated.
