I’m just wondering what android version is the best to to flash an Xperia 10 III.
“Android version 11 (recommended) or Android version 12” is mentionned in the instructions.
I wonder what is your feedback “in the real world”, what version works best, which one has the smallest amount of bugs (thinking here about echo bug in calls specifically).
Same question about blobs: Does anyone has better results, in terms of quality outcome, with other blobs than the recommended ‘‘SW_binaries_for_Xperia_Android_11_4.19_v9a_lena.zip””?
Finally what android version AND blobs combination is best
I tried a lot of combos mostly for the crashed blacks bug that really annoys me.
Unfortunately in my case I saw no benefit with battery life or echo (even though it’s rare now) with any newer base and blobs. Crushed blacks is apparent as well but to a different degree and unfixable as well with newer blobs.
The only thing that works is 11 base and blobs + the brightness script in my case, but others had better results from what I remember.
You can use Android 12 or 13 as a base for flashing SFOS, it have been tested by other users in this forum. 11 have some issues with echo cancellation and screen tint.
Use EMMA and go to the latest 12 (62.1.A.0.675) or 13 (62.2.A.0.533)
I used Android 13 base with android 11 blobs (as that was reported to have no echo or green tint). At least audio loss has been present with this combo and once I have had someone reporting echo. If I would do this again from beginning I would go with Android 12 and android 12 blobs: Android 13 and SailfishOS on Xperia 10 III - #52 by wetab73
Not an expert, but how I have understood everything….
Alien dalvik (=AAS) is LXC container, which has nothing to do with main SFOS side or base android version used beneath it. So AAS is full android emulator inside LXC container.
Hardware is generally made only for Android and have proprietary drivers etc. This is why SFOS is usually based on some android level (can use hardware drivers made for android) and uses Halium (might be correct term here, I am not an expert) to convert those drivers so that Sailfish can use them. My understanding is that the base android level doesn’t really affect anything, but usually latest versions have latest drivers etc. This is why some bugs might be fixed in the later versions or with newer blobs
I flashed SFOS on top of Android 13 and never had any echo, screen tint or audio loss issues.
I do however have the annoying headphone jack loss issue. I have my phone on silent all the time because notification sounds randomly break headphones jack audio routing.
