Xperia 10 II display: black areas get pixelated or get a green hue

REPRODUCIBILITY (% or how often): 90%
BUILD ID = OS VERSION (Settings > About product): 4.2.0
HARDWARE (XA2, X10, X10 II, …): X10 II
UI LANGUAGE: Finnish
REGRESSION: (compared to previous public release: Yes, No, ?): No

DESCRIPTION: Looking at the display in dark, with brightness at low levels, one can see how black areas (fades behing icons in App menu, black parts in videos etc) get heavily pixelated. Sometimes black shades get greenish tint.

PRECONDITIONS: Display on low brightness levels, doesn’t seem to appear in higher brightness’. In my case I have a darkish wallpaper, if that matters.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

  1. Turn brightness to low
  2. Open menus, play YouTube videos
  3. Observe the black areas of the display

I saw no issues with the display when I was testing the phone with Android, so I guess it’s not a hardware issue.

Due to being visible only in low light I haven’t been able to take photos to show the issue. I am not sure of the techical term for the phenomena, but it looks very much like this: https://www.reddit.com/r/Monitors/comments/excmar/can_anyone_tell_me_why_black_screens_look_so/ and the comments there point a incorrect gamma settings.
