Xperia 10 Dual SIM no mobile network after startup

REPRODUCIBILITY (% or how often): 100
BUILD ID = OS VERSION (Settings > About product): 3.4.0.24
HARDWARE (Jolla1, Tablet, XA2,…): Xperia 10
UI LANGUAGE: Finnish
REGRESSION: (compared to previous public release: Yes, No, ?): No

DESCRIPTION:

If only the first SIM slot (where my SIM card is installed) is enabled in settings, there is no mobile network after device startup. I have to go to the settings and enable both SIM slots, then disable the first SIM slot, enable both again and finally disable SIM slot 2. I think sometimes I have to do this several times.

If I have both slots enabled, registering to the network works (but maybe a bit slow). I have disabled the PIN code.

PRECONDITIONS:

Only the first SIM slot enabled in settings.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

  1. SIM card in slot 1 and slot 2 disabled in settings
  2. reboot the device (or have it reboot automatically after a crash)
  3. notice after a while that there is no mobile network and nobody has been able to call you

EXPECTED RESULT:

device registering to mobile network after startup when only the first SIM slot is enabled

ACTUAL RESULT:

no mobile network

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Finnish Elisa SIM card

On my XA2 it usually takes two to four restarts to get mobile working. Also on Elisa sim but i think I’ve experienced this with Telia also.

My Xperia X had similar symptoms and on that mobile doesn’t work at all anymore. Not even with Android installed. I don’t if it’s related or if the phone just broke down.

edit: Here’s a TJC thread if your issue is the same one https://together.jolla.com/question/205681/xa2-and-xperia-10-mobile-network-disabled-by-sailfish-device-manager/

I tried with the same setup on my Xperia 10+ (I4213) running 3.4.0.24:

  • slot 2 empty and disabled
  • Elisa SIM in slot 1, enabled
  • SIM/PIN query disabled

Turned phone off and on. Followed the status at the Top Menu. After about 30 seconds from the bootup, the Top Menu had the mobile data connected and the name “elisa” under the icon.

So, it is not totally broken.

But what is causing the issue in your case?
Installing app “oFono Logger” from Jolla Store might give a hint.

I noticed the same behaviour today with an identical 10 Dual SIM phone. Had a few restarts with only the SIM1 enabled and no network. I ended up leaving both SIM active in the settings.
