Xa2 seems to be able to charge while turned off, is this normal?

the title says it all

prior to latest update, my xa2 was unable to charge while turned off, in fact inserting the charging cable resulted in the phone turning on

after having installed the new tampella update (5.x.71) the phone is able to being charged while off

in fact inserting the cable will result in just the big sailfish battery indicator, the grey one with the big percentage in the middle

should i get worried?is this a bug?

That is indeed correct behaviour

ok, then question, why this phone is almost 7 years old and not a single time till today charged while turned off?

because xperia ports are meh?

in fact the charging animation will show usb coming from the top because thats where it was in jolla phone

Exactly that one

Well very weird, but ok i guess

Thank you for your answer

For future reference it’s called actdead, because despite being turned on… it… act’s dead

I can confirm having the same behaviour on the XA2. My XA2 also boots on the slightest touch of the power button. Have to say I have found both of these things annoying, and I am looking forward to the 5.0.0.71 update once it’s made available again.

Hmm.. strange.. Our 4 XA2 have always been able to charge while being OFF.

Well, something boots when I plug the cable, like a minimal system to manage charging but not the OS.
When I shortly press the power button, the battery logo + percentage show.

That’s the behaviour I see on other SFOS devices, but never on the XA2. Interesting… Wonder what the difference could be between your XA2 and mine.

Xperia 10, but saw the same. It seems Jolla has fixed the bug.

Now I can switch off the device by long pressing the power button and tapping the OFF button on the screen when it comes. Phone then stays off and don’t reboot immediately.
No more ā€œpress and hold vol up + pwr button until phone vibrates 3 timesā€ needed.

Also I can connect the charger to the switched off phone without driving it to boot. The LED glows as long as the charger is connected, LED turns off when disconnected, phone don’t boot when connecting the charger.

edit: this was on one of my X10’s when updating from 67 to 71.

Thank you @Jolla !

edit2: On my other X10, updating from 68 to 71, the power off bug still there. All the rest works fine.
edit: doing a ā€˜sfos-upgrade --verify’, reboot, ā€˜post_sfos-upgrade’, reboot, didn’t help.

Any ideas?
