Will the new Pebble Watches be supported by Sailfish Apps?

Hi Community,

some of you may have heard it already..Pebble is back. https://repebble.com/. Great news.. I was wondering if anybody is still connected to the development of the old Pebble/Rockpool Apps that we once had in SFOS. As far as I understand the new watches and their system will be probably even be partially compatible but the new watches will have also new functionality that needs to be covered. Everything seems to be Open Source so it looks promising.

I haven’t found anything about the new watches here and wanted to ask since they support color e-ink display with 30 days stand by. This would be the first smartwatch I’m really interested in.

Greetings Patsjolla

Hi, thanks.

I never heard about Pebble watches, but now preordered one  hoping someday they will be supported by Sailfish, ether by AppSupport able to link to bluetooth devices, or with a native app.

There is an app that natively supported the old Pebbles called Rockpool, and the developers have expressed a desire to extending that support to the current generation.

Yes, I saw it… And ordered also… And in worst way I will test full features on my older Xperia reverted to Android (Lineage OS).

I hope so, because I ordered a Pebble Round 2.

Leaving this here to boost the topic but also to join in on the convo as I am patiently waiting for both the Jolla 2 and the Time 2

No need to bump this thread any more, the new pebble watch will be soon compatible with Sailfish: Andrew Branson: "Everyone seems to be getting their new #pebble ex…" - Mastodon

Isn’t it quite expensive considering its features? I was thinking about the Pebble 2 Duo, it’s more affordable, and its features, though basic, would have been acceptable. However, I think the Pebble Time 2 is very expensive, and its functions are very limited. I was torn between buying it or not, and I didn’t think paying that price was really necessary, I don’t know.

I think we’ve all be waiting for it and are paying for it because it has the exact set of features that we want and no more. What are you missing?

This is such an important point. Apart from the design, one of the main reasons I want a Pebble Round 2 is that it is not overloaded with features I will never use, which gives it excellent battery life.

one of the reasons i went for the Pebble Round 2 over the Pebble Time 2 was precisely because it excluded stuff i didn’t want.

the health tracker sensors, and the speaker. that to me is a benefit, not a deficit.

I haven’t received mine either. Is there already someone with a Time 2?

Mastodon is full of them showing of their new watches. It’s torture.

Have you contacted them? I think of doing so…

Mine arrived yesterday.

I expect it to work and being supported by the ecosystem far longer then the cheaper smart watches that aren’t opensource.

Ok, you guys conviced me..I also ordered now a Time 2. But I have to wait till June before it ships…torture already, always when I order something I want it immediately. I think I am actually not really compatible with online shopping…

I chose the Time 2 because it has the highest battery life and it looks to me as if the square screen can be used better than the round one.

I also think both watches are quite expensive compared to Samsung Galaxy Watches but they last maximum 2 days and for me thats not acceptable.

So I really hope the e-ink screen is here a real advantage.

I just switched to a round 2. Only kept the Time 2 order because I thought I’d get it earlier, and I don’t like the look of that lump on the back. Maybe I’ll get one at some point this year
