Wifi broked on Jolla C2

Hi guys,

I’m having issues with the Wi-Fi on my Jolla C2, updated to SFOS 5.0.0.68. It can detect Wi-Fi networks and connect to them with difficulty, and even when it does eventually (but not always) establish a connection, the internet doesn’t work. Additionally, it no longer detects 5GHz Wi-Fi networks.

Of course, I’ve already tried the most logical steps, from restarting the device to resetting the Wi-Fi/mobile data connection, but nothing seems to work. Any suggestions?

Unfortunatelly it sounds like an hardware issue. I hope I’m wrong.

When this started to happen?

Yesterday, before the update of tonight.

Now it’s working. I don’t know why, but it’s working. I’m charging the C2 now, I will see later of will still works…

Same here today, utilities network restart: nope, airplane mode: nope.
Only restart did help

Symptom: phone told: connecred to wifi, but no app had internet

And phone was restarted maybe 24hrs ago

Hi, same with Jolla C2 since yesterday. It connects to wifi with no problem, but no app can establish a connection. If I switch to mobile connection, apps can establish a connection. No restart changes this….

Have you tried to restart the router/modem?

Yes, also restarted the router, no change. IP address shows up as connected, even in router. But ping results in 100% packet loss, e.g. no connection

More info: it seems that the mobil connection with the sim card just works for the android layer. Sailfish apps are still without internet. Unfortunately also system update. Reason unknown.

Last update, after restarting the device a couple of times, everything works normal again! At least!

Have you tried another wifi?

In my purely empirical experience, moving from an area with a lot of AP broadcasting the same SSID (let it be Area1) to another area with a lot of AP broadcasting another same SSID (let it be Area2) was causing very frequent wi-fi issues. That was my case, and since i changed my home configuration so that APs each broadcast their own ssid, it fixed a lot of issues i encountered with wifi (still get them, but less frequently).

Sometimes enabling access point also avoids rebooting, but not always.

Hope this helps.

Adding another observation after wifi stopped working: the phone is connected to wlan (IP confirmed in router and in AIDA64 app). Connections to “outside” not working, local connections (printer, etc) are working.

But in other wifi network, can you connect and go online? Or the problema Is only with your router?

In other wifi network it also does not connect. It is clearly a problem of the Jolla device and not of the router. Otherwise I could not connect with my Laptop, Android device etc.

And as mentioned earlier, if I switch to the mobile network only the Android layer apps can access internet, the sailfish apps do not connect.

Have you tried to factory reset the C2?

Not yet, I keep hoping that a fix is coming out. And just yersterday it worked normal after restarting the device a couple of times.

Restart phone ?
Wifi showing to be connected but not working is a bug
Just experienced it today again

New update wirh good news.

The phone at some point could establish again connection to the “outside” world, which alowed me to update to version 5.0.0.76. And now everything works normal again!
