Why does Jolla support take so long?

I pre-ordered the Jolla J2, and my biggest questions are: Does Jolla generally apply sender restriction settings like Access Point or My Choice for UPS deliveries? And secondly, if I don’t receive the Jolla J2, will I lose all my money during this process?

The big question is why did you start a new thread when there are many existing already?

Answers are: No and No.
Question is: how much time do you need to process 100 emails in full?

The main question is, I don’t know if they’ll accept a return if I don’t receive the Jolla J2. They say it will be shipped via UPS, but UPS says the sender might restrict options like access points. There are no answers to these questions either.

So this is important, but an early response would put people at ease, especially since this is a pre-order. This is my first time buying a device from Jolla, and I’m afraid they might leave me stranded. Maybe something happened to me, and it’s taking me this many days to contact Jolla, that’s really making me uneasy.

Many of us do know how you’re feeling about that. But you didn’t answer my question.

Why does Jolla support take so long?

Just browse the Jolla phone update thread and it clearly shows why their support is swamped.

Processing 100 emails is certainly difficult, involving a lot of complex text and requiring well-structured, formal responses. However, if 10 people were to handle it, each processing 100 emails a day, the process would be much faster.

Yes, one can’t help but wonder about it when almost a week has passed and there’s no answer; it inevitably bothers me. Please excuse my feelings.

You don’t need to apologise for your feelings. I’m also sue that some conforting and great news will follow soon.
BTW: I’m not sure if there even are 10 employees at Jolla.

I think there are more people than that many employees; there were quite a few people when they had a hacking day event some time ago.

So you want them to sit down and write emails to people that can’t parse a simple email, and then in June/July when they say the phones are delayed for months because they’ve been all answering emails, you’ll be happy with that?

My friend, you’re writing without considering the questionnaires. I answered your friend’s question, who said Jollada has almost no employees, even fewer than 10, by resignation. Of course, not all of them can spend the whole day checking emails, but things inevitably need to be organized. When you receive a service and are waiting for a description of that service, what do you think?

Imagine you haven’t received your phone and the shipping company has told you to contact Jolla due to a delivery issue. I’m sure someone has experienced this before; wouldn’t waiting a week for a response from Jolla be a bit strange? Don’t look at the problems from only one perspective. If we wait a week for answers to questions we have today, imagine how long it will take if we’re dealing with issues like not receiving our phones.

No, I think it’s fine, in fact totally normal. Fire off an email, and then just wait. Patiently. Learn to mediate. Cut out coffee from your life. Find a hobby. Go for a walk in the forest. Take a sauna, or a long hot bath, or a cold jump in a lake.

After a month, second email. Again, after it’s sent**, let it go.** Paint, sculpt, call up a friend you haven’t talked to in a while. Get outside, touch grass.

The amazing thing to me is that this is normal for companies like MS, Apple etc. You’re lucky to even get a reply these days. Even large organisations, I’m counting on minimum a week, usually a couple of weeks to get a response.

That’s with companies with TENS OF THOUSANDS OF EMPLOYEES. And dedicated customer service departments with MULTIPLE MORE EMPLOYEES than the entire of Jolla.

So no, not strange. I find it very strange however that the clientele of Jolla are so wet behind the ears that they (a) can barely handle simple instructions and (b) are the kind of person (as in the above screen shot) who are so self-blind that they will in fact spend time writing a declaration of how simple they are and complain about literally their own inability to even read a simple email and (c) still expect somehow a next-day response from a company that is around 30 people that are trying to (and amazingly, SOMEHOW MANAGING TO) compete with giant MNCs with literally HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of employees.

Strange is the naive and narcisistic assumption that their email deserves this instant response, and that when it doesn’t come, they then go and further clog up the resources of this company by spamming the forums with complaints.

And again, to reiterate, the actual solution is to just…. wait. To just give it time.

Think how much time would have been saved for example, if all the people in that support thread who have been sending emails to Jolla, had in fact WAITED a moment as they read the first order email. Or WAITED a moment on the order page, and taken the time to read, and re-read the content, like an adult.

And then WAITED a moment, before concluding the order.

They would be happier, they would have had no need to write to Jolla and ask for their orders to be rescinded, and then no need for this tedious exchange of emails.

They would have had an even quicker response if they had legitimate reasons to contact Jolla because the employees wouldn’t be sifting through hundreds of emails generated by people unable to simply WAIT.

Patience is a lost virtue.

“I’m aware that the company is small, and I’m not ignoring that. But your reply is not just a reminder of that fact — it also comes across as unnecessarily dismissive. If we are not supposed to discuss these things on the forum, then what exactly are we supposed to talk about here?

You say I’m being impatient, but I have already waited as long as one reasonably should. The reason people write here is not because they expect an instant reply; it is because delays, poor communication, and uncertainty need to be addressed. I honestly hope that if you ever experience a phone order not being delivered or being delayed excessively, I’ll see you on a forum like this too — maybe then you’ll understand why these issues are being brought up.

This is not about starting an argument. This is about the fact that some things need to be said openly now. There should be an announcement, an acknowledgment of what is missing, and clear information given to people. If we are not going to talk about problems or point out shortcomings, then what is the purpose of this forum? After all, we are paying almost flagship-level money for this phone. If simply asking why an order is delayed is treated like some kind of fault, then naturally that gives people the impression that they are not going to receive meaningful service.

I’ve spent plenty of time on forums, and I genuinely dislike narrow-minded attitudes. Being innovative, acknowledging problems, and trying to solve them is not that difficult. My intention was never to create conflict, but this kind of tone pushes people in that direction.

If Jolla is able to post on social media about how it has survived in this harsh environment, outlasted many operating systems, and still continues to exist, then people are obviously going to point out what is lacking as well. We are still getting to know this brand, and as users, it is only natural that we speak up about the problems we experience.”

My guess is that this isn’t a standard question that their Customer Support has dealt with, so they’ve had to wait for a response from someone else in Jolla who does understand the nuances of the shipping process.

In time you will get your response so as others have said, patience is advised.

FWIW, I’d also guess you won’t lose your money if you don’t get your Jolla Phone

Thank you for your reply. As I mentioned, I’m still quite new here and I’m still getting to know Jolla. Years ago I used a Nokia N9, and at that time the company announced very early on that MeeGo would no longer be supported. When that happened, I basically felt like I was left alone with the phone.

So, to put it simply, I still carry a bit of trauma from that MeeGo experience. Naturally, I don’t want to go through something similar again. I just hope that things will go smoothly and that this experience will turn out well. :slightly_smiling_face:

A place for the community to help each other.
You want to go to another country and get your phone because you can’t in Turkey. Jolla doesn’t ship there.
So you are asking for a favor from Jolla and the community using an attitude like anyone is owing you a favor.

You’ve been instructed already to send an email and patiently wait for a reply. You don’t do it.
You’ve been instructed to ask about your problem in the forum and clearly state your problem and what favor you want from others. You don’t like it.
You’ve been instructed to wait since there will be a lot of deliveries and probably similar situations sorted before you receive. You don’t like it.
You already had people from community offering to receive your device until you go meet them, free of charge. You don’t like it.

And all that rush and flood for months now here and in telegram, for a device that you will receive 6 months from now.

So to recap.
No one owes you anything and Jolla doesn’t ship in your country. If you want someone to help you, ask with the proper attitude and be grateful to anyone that is willing to help.
If you are not willing to understand the situation and accept it, i suggest you take the risk or refund.
Bashing Jolla or expecting a miracle won’t do anything.

If I wanted a Reeder phone from Turkey, should I contact Jolla, Reeder or a community member in Turkey?

You’re trying to solve the wrong problem. Your job is to get an address Jolla can ship to, and a community member’s home address is an excellent choice.

Edit: You’re asking Jolla to help you smuggle a phone into Turkey. Jolla can’t help.
