Wow sounds amazing, can’t wait for the next update!
I believe that’s a known issue, but at this point I’m not sure who’s currently in the process of knowing exactly. It’s empty for me as well.
Just to check, this would mean that we could start conversations from the whisperfish with our contacts or did I miss understand?
Yes, but only by username or by scanning a QR code, not yet via phone numbers.
Does username mean the name I have used to save the person to my contacts?
No, usernames and username links are specifically chosen by the contact: https://support.signal.org/hc/en-us/articles/6712070553754-Phone-Number-Privacy-and-Usernames#username
Hello everyone. I had to set up Signal again, but the connection with Whisperfish as a second device no longer works. I reset it with → rm -rf ~/.local/share/harbour-whisperfish ~/.config/harbour-whisperfish ~/.local/share/be.rubdos/harbour-whisperfish ~/.config/be.rubdos/harbour-whisperfishWhisperfish. I also reinstalled it. The same error keeps occurring. Does anyone know a solution… Thank you…
Are you sure you used the right command? In your comment, you’re trying to remove a directory called whisperfishWhisperfish, I’m not sure whether it’s a copy-paste error here, or in your terminal. The right command would be rm -rf ~/.local/share/harbour-whisperfish ~/.config/harbour-whisperfish ~/.local/share/be.rubdos/harbour-whisperfish ~/.config/be.rubdos/harbour-whisperfish
Note that reinstalling an app is generally a no-op: it shouldn’t affect anything.
I tried your tip… Same error…
I can give you any other information or log. I would really like to continue using Whisperfish…
Did you reboot after deleting? I had an issue with registration today and that was the soln. Rm those three folders, reboot, re-register.
Yes. Already done. It doesn’t help. I’ll try again tomorrow. But first of all, thank you
I registered WF as secondary client on the same phone as Signal (primary, AAS).
I am a member of a Signal-group. The first three messages (sent by other people) in the group after registering Whisperfish only appeared on the Signal-client, the fourth on both clients and the fifth (an image) only on Whisperfish. What is going wrong here?
EDIT: both WF and Signal are newest version.
EDIT 2: after quitting WF (quitting, not just closing window), stopping AAS and starting Signal client again, the fifth message (the image) appeared as new message in the Signal client.
I have no chance. Can’t get Whisperfish to work anymore. Too bad at the moment. Is essential on the FP4. Matrix with bridge is just a rubbish solution
@manuel.sailfish: If you send me logs, I can try to help indeed. Try to remove the directories again, and the capture logs of you reproducing the issue, and you can DM them to me.
Whisperfish currently doesn’t really correctly synchronize group information at link time, before starting to receive messages. Your main client missing a message is, to the best of my guesstimates, a fluke, and shouldn’t be related to Whisperfish at all. I took note of your first issue here: Synchronize information after linking as secondary (#780) · Issues · Whisperfish / Whisperfish - Signal on Sailfish OS · GitLab
Rebooting should never really mean anything. If you had “daemon mode” enabled, that might explain why a reboot “helped”. I’m starting to regret that we ever introduced it, honestly. It’s confusing so many people…
Can you please help me out and tell me where I can find the logs for Whisperfish? Thank you.
Here is information about taking the logs: Home · Wiki · Whisperfish / Whisperfish - Signal on Sailfish OS · GitLab
Top. Thanks
Good Support!!
