Threema offers an open source version: Threema Libre. You can pay (once) for the app at Threema itself. Having done this you will get a code that you can use in the Libre version.
This is typically a European solution. Of course Whatsapp will not do this.

The solution for WA is always simple, just delete it

Just if anyone is wondering whatsapp works perfectly fine with AAS+microg combo, at least with Xperia 10 III
