DESCRIPTION:

I cannot open image in whatsapp, for reading (if too big> 100Ko) or for sending.
If i open camera to take a photo, camera close after 2-3s.
Bug present since last Whatsapp update.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

  1. Open whatsp
  2. open camera
  3. Or try to send image from Gallery

EXPECTED RESULT:

obvious

ACTUAL RESULT:

Whatsapp “reboot” or cancel the action (back to discussion)

Did you transfer your WhatsApp folder from another phone? Then you should check ownership and permissions of the folder.

Good day sailor, does this permission needs to be 755 ? drwxrwx— on Android storage map or only the whatsapp folder?
And what if i cant get permission to change, acces denied?

Sorry just installed wa , not able to use cam , get camera failed, same with video, but can call and vc.
Ant help would be apriciated, or should i reinstall whatsapp?

Also there might be a bug in the audio. It seems like whenever a message comes in from whatsapp the audio switches to loudspeaker and the headphone is no longer recognised unless i try calling via the call app, can anyone help

Hi,
usually a new install is not needed (if the permissions are your problem). I use devel-su to adjust permissions of the whole folder to drwrwxr-x, and user as well as group to media_rw, respectively. In order to change the permission to the whole content, please use -R (for recursive), e.g.:

chown -R media_rw:media_rw WhatsApp
chmod -R +x WhatsApp

Thnx,will give it a try after waiting for 12 h, removed wa, start fresh.
Hopefully all will work properly including cam and link to galary etc.

Result after changing permissions of whatsapp folder and subfolder , issue persist nothing changed .
Cant take a pic or make a video , also not able to load any pics or video , but can call and vc with contacts .
Have MicroG installed and running, is there a possibility to temp disable it to test wa cam etc?
