What actually is Aurora OS and who is using it?

Kotlin Multiplatform for Aurora OS on macOS (apple silicon) - demo app Aurora Interop

Honestly, I see no difference between this guy’s comments and the comments of the Sailfish cultists on this forum.
If you point out any issue, they start repeating the same few things:

  • hurr go back to android/ios
  • durr make it yourself
  • hurr terminal is a great tool for regular users, especially on phones durr
  • bonus: you don’t need a working camera on the phone hurr durr

he complains about the free apps that people make in their free time. Its not about sailfish os/aurora os/teminal/camera

He is complaining about the sad state of the ecosystem.
It’s a legitimate complaint.
If he wants to use Aurora, but all apps are useless crap because nobody writes useful apps, what is wrong about expressing that?
Not everybody writes or wants to write fucking code.
You people live in a bubble.

complaining doesnt help

if you dont like an app, it doesnt make it useless. Hard to name LocalSend app useless or updated Fern

only you call you so

all what i hear from you are complains about everything. what the point to be in beta if you dont like the OS and everything related to it?

this is some delirium

Very cool!
Would this also work for Sailfish?

Erlend

I think this would need some adaptations as Aurora OS may have diverged from Sailfish.

@iolala , wondering around this forum and insulting ppl, just because they think in a completely different way and logic than you do is not getting you anywhere. Yes, you are right about some points, but your manner and reactions won’t get you anywhere.
Its kind of like getting into my house, and demanding that I change everything that YOU don’t like, instead of getting into discussion.

From my point of view, mobile phone users who do not know what the f@ck they have in their hands, how it works, what it does, and how it affects their life, are the ones that live in a freakin’ bubble. And this meta-tiktok-google-headed and completely ignorant users are, unfortunately, the vast majority, and are also the type of users who will NEVER even TRY to find an alternative OS. And they are the ones that will get everybody else into trouble, simply because they don’t see anything wrong with the doings of the big-techs, and won’t react, but instead go with the flow. These ppl are the real cultists.

If you are an adult with his brains in his head, you can safely and easily learn how to use the terminal, which is actually not quantum physics you know. You can easily find tones of info in the wild, and many ppl in here are willing to help you out for a temp fix (like, e.g., the xT9 walkaround in another thread). Problems will be solved, but there is no precise schedule. And at this point, it is normal and safe to say that, if you cannot stand this situation, you go try something else, like Android. This is not an insult.

Can you give me a quote where I said any of the imaginary things you mentioned?

The idea of taking a Russian phone that was originally based upon western tech but has since been seriously modified sounds cool but the Russian’s didn’t buy into Jolla without wanting something in return. Of course the politicians will have you believe that the Russian’s are nefarious operators that cannot be trusted but when you look at these kind of investment opportunities, what they have done is a standard practice here in the west.

Looking at it from our point of view given the current circumstances it couldn’t happen and even if the western sanctions were lifted you would still be looking at a Huawei type situation. The politicians are all on the big tech payroll in some form or another despite all the theatre in the media regarding fighting for the rights of the people to be protected from the tech giants.

Democracy and ‘freedom’ here in the west is fast becoming a lost cause.

Exactly. Palantir, the US company that provides UK government IT services, Armed Forces IT, GCHQ IT and after the March 3 visit to their HQ by Starmer and Mandelson announced a three billion pound contract with the NHS. 11 Peers in the Lords were reported recently as receiving consultancy fees from Palantir linked lobbyists. Two years ago ( I don’t keep up regularly ) 60 former Ministers - that covers lots of jobs by juniors that are never in the public eye - had taken up posts in the previous three years with companies related to the job that they did in government. Nick Clegg/ Meta. Look at the three companies who Sunak is working for now. Spend a few years in Government pushing through legislation that enables companies to create and use platforms that effectively control the population and then receive the resulting payoff. Now that Google requires four factor authentication and AOSP does not allow input from independant devs (only Google’s own can - the source cide is published AFTER update ) only devices approved by them and Apple will be able to access the mandatory functions required in order to live as a human being.
