Hi there ![]()
I have recently released Vuo, a native Sailfish OS client for Miniflux, the self-hosted feed reader.
Vuo does not fetch or parse any feeds itself. It syncs with a Miniflux server through it’s REST API, and fetching, parsing, cleaning up, deduplication and full-text extraction all stay on the server. Vuo is the Sailfish UI on top, with a local copy of your articles so you can read offline.
It is built for the Jolla Phone 2026. Other/older devices may or may not work.

To Do’s/Known limitations
In no particular order:
- [Out of scope] Fetching feeds on the phone without a server
- [Out of scope] Other backends (Fever, Google Reader, Tiny Tiny RSS, Nextcloud News)
- [Out of scope] Server administration beyond adding and removing feeds, e.g. rewrite rules, scraper rules, blocklists. Use the Miniflux web UI for these.
- [Out of scope] A podcast player
- [Out of scope] Feeding the trolls
- [Done] Notifications for new articles
- [Done] Search
- [Todo] Background daemon? Currently, Vuo syncs only while the app is open or on the cover. Harbour doesn’t allow a background service. Maybe some day.
- [Todo] Sharing
- [Todo] Translations - These have not been proof-read yet and might have some rough edges.
- Probably more.
Installing
Vuo has been submitted to Harbour/the Jolla Store and is waiting in line for quality assurance. Until then, it installs like any sideloaded package. Download harbour-vuo-1.1.1-1.aarch64.rpm from the release page and, in developer mode, run:
devel-su pkcon install-local harbour-vuo-1.1.1-1.aarch64.rpm
How it was made
Vuo was developed with the help of AI, as the README states up front. The app has CI checks, and tests, and all of the code is public for review. If that’s a deal-breaker for you, that’s completely fair. I’d ask that this thread stay about the app itself. ![]()
About the name
Vuo is Finnish for “flux”, as a small nod to Miniflux, and again to our Finnish friends. ![]()
Feedback welcome
This thread is for any constructive feedback about the app: impressions, feature requests, UI feedback, translation fixes.
Bug reports are best filed as GitHub issues so they don’t get lost. I may eventually look at bugs reported here, but I’ll focus on GitHub issues.
