VoLTE support tinkering

My other answer to the issue of calls not working right is to use SIP and forward to it… But that’s a last ditch effort if my efforts don’t end up bearing fruit come February… Which I have an MVNO for US-Mobile…

What happends if try that WiFi calling with Xperia XA2? I can’t get Mint Mobile SIM in Finland so I can’t test it.

I will test on my XA2 in a bit.

There is some work done to get VoLTE support…
Maybe someday Sailfish supports VoLTE.

I think that technically it would be easiest to use Qualcomm’s IMS stack for Android to get VoLTE support.
Sony’s binaries for AOSP9 and AOSP10 contains Qualcomm IMS stack daemons.

But in legal side, I don’t know is it possble dig content for binder .hal files from those binaries. To implement for example Ofono plugin that can controll Qualcomm’s IMS daemons.

Implementing own IMS stack is bigger task. And it needs to be tested on multible networks.

That is basically sip through their app. Congrats you have come up with something you can already do in Sailfish through a native sip app.

Did you get anywhere with this, @nerd7473 ? I’m up the same creek, no paddle… I have a working X, XA2 and 10ii, the 10ii dropped signal so often without warning I ditched it, and now I hear TMobile won’t serve my XA2 anymore come July.
I know VoLTE support is coming (in next SFOSrelease?) but still don’t know if it will work on my phones… meanwhile, looks like the 10iii is gonna be a bust for network coverage on all major and virtual minor networks……
I’m game to test whatever, or just stay in the loop.

He wont get anywhere because he is looking for a quick fix for a problem that has no quick fix

Haven’t gotten anywhere yet, health issues and my ignorance on how the backent pieces together doesn’t help…

Never wanted a quick fix, just wanted to see if I could make it work, or maybe give someone more knowledgeable than me an idea for how to make it work
