I read through NeoStumbler docs, nowhere did it think to describe to newcomers what the stumbler app usage pattern should be.
Do you have it running 24/7 and rely on downstream optimisations? What’s the use for collecting and uploading 800 seemingly identical reports / day of your own house?
Even with movement detection that’s what the end result looked like.
I guess the alternative is remembering switch-style on/off in locations that matter to you?
I made a test today while biking my usual 15km. I had three short pauses and on every stop I started Pure Maps and asked it to follow me. It took every time less than 30 seconds to show my position. GPSinfo showed about 20/30 satellites. I find quite a big improvement. I use C2 with 5.1.0.8 and Pure Maps online.
How did you manage to keep Puremaps installed while upgrading to SFOS 5.1?
I didn’t loose PureMaps, it works, sort of. But spits errors… (XA2)
Yes I lost it but I and Chum. I downloaded and installed a working Chum (link below) and installed Pure Maps with it.
The version I downloaded is 0.6.12-1.13.1aarc64.bso aarc64.rpm works for me.
You’ll have to reinstall Pure Maps. At least that what I had to do.
With Chum you get the latest version 3.5.1-1.15.1
In fact i didn’t understand if having two times the same beacon makes the beacon stronger or nothing at all
I am using stumblefish now anyway and i noticed that in the maps some beacon is more blue than others, so i suppose it gets stronger?no confirmaton anyway…
I think I read something about multiple datapoints being used to gauge the accuracy, but I can’t find it again.
Looking at the map at Beacondb, it’s obvious that some data is unreliable. E.g. you will probably not get much help from BeaconDB travelling the 220 km ferry route between Bari (Italy) and Durres (Albania)…
[Edit to add:] Just to clarify, BeaconDB shows a trail across the Adriatic Sea, but I think there wouldn’t be any cell towers or wifi beacons within range.
so question, is beacondb working for anybody?
because for me it seems completely useless on my xa2
i have both hw gps and beacondb enabled
on fernschreiber, if i tap on share position, beacondb is able to get a fix in seconds, and camera too, except this fix is like 2 kms wrong
pure maps is not even able to get this wrong fix, it just waits for the hw fix it seems, and anyway getting this wrong fix seems not to help the hw fix in at all, because the hw fix still takes several minutes (if it ever happen)…
before you ask, yes, my entire area has been mapped already by me and it’s full of beacons
any suggestions?
I stumblefished my locations last weeks and got a first location within seconds; it was about 161 m accurate inside a building. So GPS is still searching satellites for improved accuracy, but I can live with that.
i stumblefished beacons too way before the app was on openrepos 
so my area is very well covered…
anyway, hw fix took like 20 or 30 minutes on my balcony (which is a wonderful place to get a fix it seems) but incredibly enough, after that, seems to be working fine
like i rebooted and got a fix in second, rebooted again and got another accurate one (about 30 meters accurate) in seconds, then i did an hard reset (the one with power + vol up) and got an accurate fix in less than a minute
wonder if beacondb and hw had like to synchronize or something, because i don’t have another explanation, unless of course gps stops working tomorrow…
now i did another hard reset anyway so i can do another full test when i am outside…

Here it works for Xperia 10ii. Put HereMaps on and get a location within a few seconds and its accurate for less than 10m. But its in Berlin where the coverage of beacons might be higher than on other places.
Love the StumbleFish-App. Was collecting beacons on weekends in parts of germanys countryside and also tried to get beacons for my work, so the information there should be more accurate.
Had some other tries, i need from like 30 seconds to a minute to have an accurate position, not bad, not bad at all

I do wonder if collecting the same beacon more times makes the beacon stronger or it’s just irrelevant
