USB-C to 3.5mm jack adapters known to work with Sailfish OS

Did anyone try the Koss Porta Pro Utility with the USB-C / DAC cable?

Has anyone tried Apple’s 3.5mm to USB-C adapter with JP2026? It works but the audio quality is awful, like it’s in the headset mode. Both in native apps and AAS. The same adapter works perfectly with my Android phone and the sound coming out of the device’s speakers is clear. Happens with both the headphones that have a microphone and the ones that don’t

Have you updated to 5.2.0.20?

yes that was on .20. i just rebooted my phone and now the quality is good :person_facepalming: oh well

Really? .20? Be honest.

yes, updating was one of the first things i did after getting the phone

Never happened to me. But i have to say that Axagon dac has better quality especily in high tones. My GF does not hear the difference so we made blind on 24bit @ 48kHz Flac test where she connected randomly Axagon or Apple and i was 100% sure which one is connected.

also do not forget that both and some other DACs has limited default sound volume what has to be adjusted to their max so you can control full range from UI/buttons via A) automated script or B) manually by app launcher. Howto is linked somewhere in my previous posts

Yulong D100 Dac w. 6.3mm jacks is working via USB cable with Jollaphone 2026. GUI on phone to change sampling rates would be nice.

ā€œNeunxā€ USB Type-C to Aux 3.5mm jack DAC Audio Headphone Adapter for Samsung iPhone Audio (Decoding 24bit/96kHz according to description from the bay) works with the JP2026 for listening to music and, with the Beyerdynamic MMX300 headset, also for making phone calls (OS 5.2.0.22)

Bass? Hm the bass… is slim. I haven’t tried what the adapter does on a simple earplug yet.

Interesting: The adapter makes a short crackle when you change the sampling speed in the resampler of Android-Foobar2000 Mobile (Ver. 2.25.10 arm 64) on the JP2026.
It would be interesting if you could see somewhere, what the actually sampling rate from the phone to the audio hardware is.

The EQ of Foobar works audibly.

Ha! This adapter likes my MDR-1A headphones much better, or I like the more dynamic sound. There are devices that fit together better electrically than other combinations.

Cheers

TRN TE+ CX31993 works, random chinese adapters I had laying around (iNassen and ENVEL) work as well. I had issues with all of them but solved completley by rebooting (I think)

Swissonic HAD-1 Dac w. 6.3mm jack is working via USB cable with Jollaphone 2026.

Gonna add here that I’m using the AudioQuest DragonFly Cobalt with a USB-C to USB-A adapter on the Jolla phone 2026 which has no trouble driving my AKG K702s

Hi Cryx and all,

no, unfortunately not… Before I was using Apple bluetooth Airpods and the skipping worked once, then not even stop/start worked anymore. I bought a Teufel USB-C cable headset, I thought with cable it should be working, nope… only start stop but no skipping.

I retried with Apple, suddenly it worked again, the only difference was that I switched on ā€œSend incoming pairing requests to AppSupportā€, allthough I was using Jolla’s media app to listen to my music. Strange, but the Airpods are not remembered since, I always have to re-pair them. Referring the sound, before I thought the sound was good, nice sound chip, but after trying some other apps, the bass was becoming poor and it did not get better again, even after uninstalling those apps (in VLC I did not even managed to get a sound, this app became kind of useless, also on my computer it is too resouce consuming to be used with fun. Equalizer Apps did not work as expected. Then in the Jolla store I found the Quasar MX Player with built in equalizer - Man! This was the sound I was looking for!

The controls are still a problem, inconsistent on Apple, not working at all on cable.

VLC also has exactly no audio output on my JP2026 independent of audio hardware, although it looked like it was playing back. Maybe missing a cfg trick …

Cheers

Now it does! Thanks to @stdovydas Well what was tested was the older USB-A model (Cobalt), but I am much more positive about the chances of the newer variant of the same brand to also work.

via pactl? as the pulse runs at 48kHz, this will be same for DAC

Some android apps might not be working as expected, because I am not using a google account. I am happy that my banking apps work and I am trying to use as less as possible other android apps. Referring the player I can really recommend Quasar, but the full version from repository, which is free now, it has some really good functionality. Referring bluetooth, it seems to work now, don’t know, what I did, I unchecked the pairing requests to AppSupport again, now it remembers my Airpods again and pause/play as well as skipping works (knock on wood!). I deleted all other paired equipment which I tried, don’t need it really for my mobile.

Wondering if pactl-gui will work on JP2026 …
