I can’t get into developer mode anymore. Starting developer mode hangs with “Changes will be prepared”
@ohnonot I tried the lines from your link, but it did not change anything. Error message is still the same.

Same here, all seems to work except Sailfish OS Updates. “Connect to internet”
I do have a VPN configured, tried to disable it but that didn’t solve the issue.
Only tried WIFI as it needs to work on WIFI.
Mentally preparing myself for Sailfish OS 4.5 for the next 10 years.
EDIT: after about 14 days of no internet connection I immediately refreshed the updates component after connecting internet and the message went away… Now I can sleep knowing there is no update

I opened a ticket at jolla support and they told me to reinstall the latest OS version, as it sounds that something has gone terribly wrong in the update.
It looks like it is already fixed. Updates checking started working again.
